Clarity Of Language

We've all seen favorite brands of soap or snacks go through several redesigns, packaging face lifts, or "improvements" in order to entice customers into staying with the brand or luring new customers to go with what looks like something fresh and modern.
We're also savvy enough to read the small print or ask questions when a product's claims don't make sense. So why is it that we gullibly accept at face value the contents of socialist repackaging and their redefinition of governmental, historical, and cultural terms?
Clarity of language and knowing the precise meaning of words and in what context they are used is crucial to understanding the truth of a situation. Lawyers especially know this and that's why they twist and distort the meaning of words until one is left pondering what the meaning of "Is" is. Clarity of language is even more vital in a country whose political health and welfare is dependent on an informed voting population. To put it bluntly, if you don't know the truth, you can't catch the lies. Socialists, like their legalistic brethren, can not stand the truth because it exposes them for what they are: micro-managing ruling elites, haters of freedom, and power tripping purveyors of guilt whose destructive agendas eventually lead to the horrors of the gas chamber.
Socialism per se is a prime example of brand name change. No matter what it calls itself, it is, as Rudyard Kipling said in his poem, The Gods of the Copybook Heading, "...we were promised abundance for all, by robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;" a system of legalized plunder which produces a wealthy ruling elite while reducing everyone else to poverty. As Frederick Bastiat so elegantly put it in his book, The Law, when he was describing how seductively socialism perverts a nation, "The law has been used to destroy its own objective: It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect. The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense."
Socialism, communism, communitarianism, Fabianism, Marxism, liberalism, progressivism, fascism and any other "ism" of the Left are all names for legal plunder which has led to the deaths of a hundred million victims world wide. A socialist would argue that he is not a communist but the communists considered socialism a necessary transition between the capitalist state and the communist state. A socialist would die before admitting that he has anything in common with a nazi but a nazi is a national socialist whereas a socialist is international in their outlook. There are socialists in Congress who parade as Democrats, some even running for President of the United States like Dennis Kucinich, who actually calls himself a "progressive".
As mentioned above, socialists distanced themselves as fast as possible from the Nazis and the fascists even though they were originally allies during WWII. Mussolini, who was a devout Marxist, founded fascism as a cooperative effort between big business and the government whereby the government maintains the illusion of private property all the while regulating and controlling it through ever more restrictive laws. Fascism is the operating force behind what the international socialists of the Third Way espouse. Some Third Way socialists currently in positions of power or influence include British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former US President Bill Clinton, and NY Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton. The only difference between fascism and socialism is that fascism is slower on forcing a people into poverty than at the pace taken by socialism.
One way the Left has divorced itself from the taint of its past nazi and fascist associations is by projection of these very traits and names onto conservatives who adhere to the actual Rule of Law. Hence conservatives or even moderate center right people are routinely labeled Nazis or fascists. This is otherwise known as "The Brown Smear" and this libel of the Right by the Left recently reared its ugly head in the Summer of 2003 when psychology professors from the University of California at Berkeley published a paper linking Hitler and Mussolini with former Republican US President Ronald Reagan and popular conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
Socialists also love to muddy the intellectual waters by refusing to call things as they properly are. That's why illegal aliens, who are actually criminals since they broke immigration laws to enter the US, are now called "undocumented immigrants" or even more dangerously, "undocumented citizens". This is also the reason why socialists hide the homosexual agenda by claiming it is a "civil rights issue" when it is actually an attack on the fabric and foundations of marriage and the family which make a stable society. Civil rights have to do with the color of one's skin, not one's sexual preferences and to equate the two trivializes the battle for racial equality of the Civil Rights movement of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Perverting the concept of democracy and human rights is another specialty of the Left. They currently define the debate not because they understand and honor democracy and human rights, far from it as their sordid history proves, but because these concepts are useful tools with which to gain power. Democrats repeatedly tell Americans that we live in a democracy dependent on the popular vote while conveniently ignoring the fact that the US is a republic, which elects its President through the Electoral College. Yet Democrats still whine that President Bush stole the election from Gore in 2000 even after 5 different recounts all proved that Bush actually had won the popular vote.
Socialism, with its international, anti-patriotic, and deeply undemocratic principles defines the agenda of the Teachers' Union in America's public schools. Instead of the Bill of Rights being taught to impressionable minds, socialists substitute the poorly defined Human Rights concept much as one would substitute sweetener for sugar. It vaguely tastes like and has the appearance of sugar but, then again, so does arsenic. The Human Rights that socialists push are simply emotionally driven demands to be fulfilled at whim by a Big Brother cradle-to-grave state. These rights have no real basis in reality and come and go as fashion and passion dictate. They are used more like one would dangle a carrot in front of a horse in order to lure the unwary into the socialist camp.
So the next time some snake oil socialist tries to fob off an evil notion wrapped in pretty packaging, look to see what's in the box to make sure it's not the same old poison. Suicide bombers are murderers, not "freedom fighters". Terrorists are international criminals waging asymmetrical warfare on non-military targets, not "enemy combatants" covered by the Geneva Convention, which, by the way, they don't recognize in their country's prisons. Abortion is pro-death, not pro-choice. Diversity has the same root as "divide" and it pulls people apart rather than bring them together. Pedophiles are looking to sexually abuse children, not searching for civil or human rights. Erasing any mention of religion in the public domain doesn't uphold the Constitution but it does establish the socialist state religion of atheism. Democracy is a system built on equality before the law, honor, and the informed individual voter, not some easily manipulated mobocracy with which to vote in tyrants. Only real rights have responsibilities; everything else is just bait and switch.
