Illegal Aliens + Illegal Voters = National ID Disaster
By Ann Huggett (09/21/03)
Facing a voter recall election in October for running the state into $38 billion worth of debt and desperate to stay in power, California governor Grey "Red" Davis openly pandered to the state's growing Latino population by signing into law a bill which allows illegal immigrants to get legitimate driver's licenses
Illegals had been thwarted from getting licenses because of a 1993 law requiring Social Security Numbers but now they may provide an easily obtained Federal Taxpayers Identification number instead. Besides providing a degree of semi-legality and deliberate flouting of US immigration laws in order to curry the favor of ethnic voting blocs, Democrats like Davis hope to be the benefactors of the Motor Voter registration pushed at the DMV license counters.
Outrage at this blatantly seditious attempt to enfranchise fraudulent voters for participation in the California governor recall in October was widespread. From the average citizen to elected representatives, the disgust was real. Gubernatorial candidate and legal immigrant/US citizen Arnold Schwarzenegger promised to immediately rescind the law if elected. In a letter sent by 19 other California Congressional Republicans, Congressman Christopher Cox wrote, "It is especially cruel that he has signed this bill into law on the two-year anniversary of the war on terrorism."
Cox, who is the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, called the bill "an invitation to forgery" and "a giant leap backward in the war on terrorism" which would allow illegals, criminals, and terrorists to develop and use multiple identities to thwart investigators and the police, "Under this legislation, California's process will resemble that of Virginia during the period in which seven of the September 11 terrorists obtained fraudulent licenses from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles."
As House Immigration Reform Caucus Chairman Colorado Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, whose state recently rejected the Matricula Consular ID card developed by Mexican President Vicente Fox's administration to circumvent US immigration laws, immediately put forward plans to introduce legislation that strips federal highway money from those states that allow or plan to allow illegals to get driver's licenses. Currently close to 30 states either accept the none-secure Matricula Consular ID or allow illegals to get valid driver's licenses by providing a Federal Taxpayers Identification number.
In 2002 Davis vetoed nearly the same bill citing that it would compromise national homeland security. By passing this bill into law Davis basically announced that his position of power is more important to him than the safety and security of not only his state but of the nation as well. Driver's licenses are considered "breeder documents" because they allow the holder to register to vote, board airplanes, get employment, buy guns and ammunition, rent vehicles and planes, and transact financial business such as opening bank accounts or to even buying a house. Thanks to the politically correct ignoring of US immigration laws nationwide and because the actual driver's license and requirements for it vary so much from state to state, there are now calls to standardize its appearance and the information it carries. Such items as one's Social Security Number, fingerprints, photo and retinal scans, and medical information has all been suggested. This standardization would make a US driver's license into a National ID card, quickly researched through a national database thereby making it easier to track legitimate legal residents and US citizens.
However, terrorists and criminals will find a way around any type of ID. Identity theft is rampant and the Matricula Consular ID is so unsecured that Mexico refuses to accept them within its own borders. Murder-bombers with immediate terrorist goals won't care if they go into a database for future tracking or not. Determined counterfeiters can fake anything and unscrupulous governmental employees have been known to outright sell driver's licenses, Socials Security numbers, and Green Cards to those willing to bribe them. Eventually these frauds will be exposed but the greatest damage to the US may never be reversed: non-citizen voters casting their ballots not only in state and local elections, but nationally as well.
The US prides itself on the fairness and honesty of its elections. However, in the 2000 Presidential election voter fraud became so blatant that steps were taken to ensure better accounting in future elections. That desperate politicians have found a way around voter fraud by mass-producing fraudulent voters bodes ill for America and free elections. By assaulting the very rules and regulations that ensure a legal and agreed upon transfer of power, freedom will be not only destroyed but anarchy and civil war will rush in to fill the vacuum.
