Dictators “R” Us
By Ann Huggett (08/05/03)
A few years ago that I had my eyes opened but good when I overheard a lawyer gloatingly exclaim, “We did it! We won! We manipulated laws for our own benefit! We’re lawyers and we’re more powerful than the US Constitution! Nothing can stop us!”
Now fast-forward to a July 2003 ABC News’ Sunday morning edition of George Stephanopoulos’ “This Week”. His guests were Supreme Court Justices Stephen G. Breyer and Sandra Day O'Connor and they blandly commented on their twisting of Constitutional law in order to hallucinate new penumbral rights aimed at institutionalizing reverse racism and declaring state sodomy laws void. What made their comments even more outrageous was their seditious admittance that they had looked not to the Constitution itself for their decision but to foreign jurisdiction.
Justice Breyer admitted, "Through commerce, through globalization, through the spread of democratic institutions, through immigration to America, it's becoming more and more one world of many different kinds of people. And how they're going to live together across the world will be the challenge, and whether our Constitution and how it fits into the governing documents of other nations, I think will be a challenge for the next generations."
Think back to June 2003 to a quote from Hillary Clinton and start connecting some dots, “…"for eight years we were on the right course to a globalized and integrated world - which is coming, one way or the other.”
That “one way or the other” looks to be accomplished through a back-door perversion of United States Constitutional Law thanks to the liberals/progressives/socialists/closet-communists/whatevers of our judiciary, executive, and legislative branches, the same men and women who took an oath to uphold the Constitution. (Hint: The next time any elected official says the Constitution is a “Living Document”, vote the bastard out of office. He/she/it just admitted that they’d manipulate the Constitution to suit themselves and their agenda.)
Anyone bother to take a look at how the rest of the world governs itself, especially those countries not inheritors of the Anglo-Saxon traditions of freedom and liberty? The rest of the world’s laws are either subject to Napoleonic Law, sharia, communist dictatorship, or out-and-out chaos.
One only has to look at how the UK is faring these days to understand what’s in store for the US. In order for the UK to be subsumed/consumed by the EU, whose own Constitution not only mocks ours but is a kissing cousin to the Communist Manifesto, Tony “Winston Churchill is spinning in his grave” Blair is busily doing away with trial by jury, increased taxes, destroyed the manufacturing, farming, and fishing industries through over-regulation, outlawed the right to self-defense, institutionalized political correctness, and lost control of the borders.
Africa is a series of kleptocracies run by lunatics where subsistence farming, when it occurs, is considered a miracle. Babies are raped because it’s believed that they will cure the rapist of his HIV. Cannibalism, voodoo, human sacrifices, slavery, racial and religious warfare, disease, poverty, corruption, and destruction are running riot. Might as well stick a fork in Africa because it’s done.
Any nation that is unfortunate enough to share borders with an Islamic state gets the full court press of jihad and Muslim insurgency. The EU itself is staggering under the massive unassimulating Islamic hordes pouring into its member nations. Italian doctors are reporting cases of Muslim men showing up in local dispensaries seeking help for recent hand amputations; loping hands being a favorite way of sharia courts for dealing with thieves. There are whole sections of major cities in France where non-Muslims are forbidden to enter. I won’t even bother going into the living hell of Islamic nations. We’ve been regaled continuously with horror stories of life with the Taliban, Iranian imams, or Saudi Arabia since 9/11.
South America and Mexico are inheritors of Napoleonic Law where personal relationships with those in power trumps codified law. Bribery, poverty, crime, narco-terrorism, and a resurgence of communism as in Venezuela make Uncle Sam turn into Uncle Sugar as wave upon wave of illegal immigrants boil into the US. The liberal fools who chirp and trill about multi-cultural diversity are singing their own funeral songs when they make it easy for these new arrivals to break our immigration laws and not assimilate. The root of “diversity” is the same as “divide” and a house or nation divided against itself can not stand. Link that with Bill Clinton talking about how someday the US will no longer be the most powerful nation in the world and you can almost see the vultures circling overhead.
Asia is poverty on wheels with billions trapped under the hopeless yoke of communism. Yes, there are bright spots like Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, India, and Taiwan but they are either being slowly strangled by the PRC or under nuclear threat from North Korea. Japan is in a deflationary spiral. India and China’s globalized economies are built on the picked clean skeleton of American manufacturing and high tech service industries. Hate to spoil the party but if we’re all out of jobs in the US, there is no way we’re buying new Dell Computers or Mitsubishis anymore.
Which leads me to one final link in the chain of what’s in store for the US. While our ruling elites are skewing our laws, or, as in Hillary Clinton’s case today, complaining that the Supreme Court is too conservative in spite of last month’s rulings, look for the code words “sustainable development” to start cropping up more and more. I understand that this term is on nearly every single US government web site available that deals with national and international commerce.
According to USAID administrator J. Brian Atwood, “Everything must change. The pursuit of "sustainable development" will require nothing less than a "comprehensive revision of institutions, practices, and attitudes on the part of every human being." In other words, look for "downward harmonization" which is the reversal of U.S. living standards to the conditions existing in most Third World countries.
However, don’t expect our lawmakers/career criminals like the Clintons or Chiracs of this world to do without their luxuries. That’s for us peasants, as Al Gore already likes to refer to us. There you have it, kiddies. P. J. O’Rourke’s comment that, “…we’re all cattle to rich men.” is a several steps closer to reality.
Can anything be done even at this late date? The best any conservative can is appeal wrong-headed decisions or resort to civil disobedience. One thing that happens like clockwork during Republican administrations is massive liberal civil disobedience from anti-war marches to installing socialist agendas through the NEA.
If the leftists can overturn constitution state votes like they do in California using tax payer money through the courts by shopping for liberal judges, conservatives can do the same with socialist laws. All that is needed is for patriotic groups to find sympathetic, conservative judges to do the same.
Prop 187 in California immediately comes to mind. That was a state constitutionally voted proposition denying welfare to illegal immigrants yet the leftists got it overturned in the courts through one liberal judge. Now California is tanking under the strain of providing for illegals.
Judicial activism is nasty, dirty, and the preferred weapon of the socialists. They can not get their agendas easily passed into laws because of all the messy checks and balances inherent in our system but they can back door any legal monstrosity through the courts.
This is why the Democrats are blocking every conservative federal judge that Bush nominates. President Bush needs to take a leaf out of Bill Clinton’s playbook and make interim appointments of strict Constitutional judges while the Democrats play fast and loose with America’s future. I suggest Judge Robert Bork and Ann Coulter; that would really frost Senator Ted Kennedy’s cookies. There are also conservative law groups out there like The American Center for Law and Justice and the Landmark Legal Foundation. These are the people who are already fighting fire with fire and need our support.
