Scandal Du Jour

This past week has seen US Democrats acting their clueless, self-aggrandizing, graceless selves in the chambers of government and on the talking heads circuit on TV. I realize Democrats spitting venom isn’t news because when do they ever act otherwise?
What makes their mean-spirited whining so different from what they usually freak out about is so trivial that it makes one think the Jackass Party has truly lost its collective mind. Their big scandal du jour is President Bush’s appearance on the USS Abraham Lincoln as it neared San Diego after being out for 10 months in overseas action culminating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
President Bush took the opportunity to address the sailors in a heartfelt and warm welcome home speech that reflected his pride in their bravery and dedication. You could see that the sailors on board returned the compliment. They cheered and applauded because they knew for once that they had a President worthy of the title of Commander-In-Chief. Those brave fighting men and women will have stories to pass down to their grandchildren! It was one of those instances when you could really feel the love.
Evidently that was more than the Bush-hating Democrats could bear. If you scratch a Democrat in the US, you’ll find a socialist. Because of the bankruptcy of their ever-shifting political correctness, socialists ultimately don’t believe in anything but lining their own pockets at taxpayer expense. So when symbolism is all that you have left with which to bludgeon your opponent with, you go for whatever part of his throat you think is exposed. The Democrats couldn’t attack Bush head-on because of the content of his speech so instead they went after him on the symbolism of his arrival on board the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Instead of showing up in a business suit in a helicopter, Bush hitched a ride on a returning jet assigned to the carrier, flying it one third of the way in, and arriving - horror of horrors! - looking like a total babe in a flight suit. It was enough to make a Democrat’s head spin and start vomiting out avocado green bilge.
And vomit out the bilge they did. Right now Democrats Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia and Congressman Henry Waxman of California are getting TV mileage out of acting shocked, shocked, I tell you! – that Bush did not arrive sedately dressed in a business suit in a helicopter, mumble a few embarrassed words to the troops, then hurry off like a thief in the night. Instead we have career politician Byrd, who must have every other public building in West Virginia named after him because of his pork barrel largess projects in West Virginia, squealing like a weenie on the grill about the outrageous abuse of taxpayer money and political advantage photo opportunities!
Waxman is going ballistic over the expense too despite the previous Democratic administration’s history of taking vacations complete with entourage on the taxpayer’s dime. (No names but the initials of the President we’re talking about is Bill Clinton…) Ignoring his own personal history of funding disastrous and unnecessary spending projects totaling billions of dollars, Waxman is frothing at the mouth over the something like $6,000.00 that jet flight cost. Considering that the jet was assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln and was scheduled to return to that aircraft carrier whether that back seat was filled or not, is beside the point.
Watching Waxman go nuts is disconcerting too. At some point all you can do is sit mesmerized at how ugly the man is and wonder if a bat in the cave will appear. In Waxman’s case it’s what’s bred in the bone comes out on the face. What you see on that face is hatred.
It’s hatred that is driving the Democrats, pure and simple. First and foremost they hate Bush and everything he represents. They hate him for being President. They hate him for his love of country, his conservatism, his admiration of the military, his religious convictions, his optimism, his patriotism, and his honesty. They hate him for constructing a powerful and competent cabinet of some of the best political strategists of our time. They hate him for winning Operation Iraqi Freedom. They hate Bush for being everything they are not and they hate President Bush most of all because America loves a winner!
That’s the Democrat’s ultimate fear driving them into this unreasoning attack. There’s still Republican political hay to be made out of the landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln come the 2004 elections. The Democrats are furious that Bush is believable as a Commander-In-Chief. (Anyone who can remember the laughable scene of Mike Dukakis’ helmeted head sticking up out of that army tank will know what I’m talking about.)
What’s elitist Hillary Clinton going to do to fool us into thinking she’s “just folks” when she campaigns? Stick a NYC baseball cap on her head when the sounds of firemen booing are probably still haunting her from September 2001? Can she pull out shots of her tubby hubby stuffed like a 5 pound sausage in a three pound skin when he appeared before the troops in Kosovo in a flight jacket like he had just personally flown in a B52 bomber?
Who could forget Bill Clinton’s famous letter to his recruiter during the Viet Nam War that he wouldn’t be enlisting because he “…loathed the military…”? Clinton’s tendency to use the military to conduct airstrikes to cover up his domestic peccadilloes during his presidency made the military actively despise him. Clinton’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which ruined military morale by forcing politically correct treatment of homosexuals in the military, didn’t help either. Whenever Clinton played at being Commander-In-Chief before the troops they all had to empty their rifles because it was feared one of them would assassinate Clinton to put America out of her misery!
It won’t matter whom the Democratic Party fields for the 2004 presidential elections. By its misuse and contempt for the military, the Jackass Party has thoroughly discredited itself. Thousands of the best officers and enlisted men and women left the service during the last Democratic administration. These brave men and women knew they were seen as nothing but cannon fodder to be used on whim. In a post 9/11 world, we need our military now more than ever! All one has to do is see how the Democrats do everything in their power to discount or negate overseas military ballots to know how they respect the military. Just because military voters are conservative is no reason to deny them their voting rights as American citizens.
Just tell that to the Democrats!
