I Am A Citizen, Not A "Subject"
By William Bailey (03/11/03)
I am a citizen of the United States of America, not a subject of anyone who is now, ever has been, or would become the "monarch" of the UN (Un-tied Nations).
I answer to the Constitution of the United States of America . . . not the Charter of the UN (Un-tied Nations).
I salute the Red, White and Blue of Old Glory . . . not the powder blue emblem of the UN (Un-tied Nations).
While there are those who may believe that the United States and her Constitution is subservient to the UN, I do not happen to be one. While the Constitution is frayed and constantly under attack, it is still the greatest document of freedom and liberty known to mankind. The problem is that "we the People" have allowed it to be weakened.
According to the Australian Associated Press, UN Chief Kofi Annan has said, "If the U.S. goes outside the Security Council, it will not be in conformity with the U.N. charter." So what ! The Constitution of the United States has not been amended to provide that permission be sought from the UN before action is taken. And, while the U.S. may be a signatory to the UN Charter, there is nothing in the Constitution that states that membership in the UN subjugates U.S. action to that body.
I realize, fully, that there are those who believe in a "New World Order" . . . one where the UN will be the ruling organization. And, actions have been underway for decades to bring that about. Talk about a "Pandora's Box" ! Or, better stated, a "can of worms". Such an undertaking may look good on paper and it may be the hope of the social "do-gooders", but . . . guess what . . . won't work, "Charlie Brown".
In the event that some may have come to the conclusion that I am advocating war with anybody, that is not the purpose nor intent of this piece. I just happen to be one who believes that the time has come for the United States to stand up and be the United States. The beacon of freedom, liberty and hope that she was designed and intended to be. The place that Lincoln referred to as "the last best hope" . . . the place that former President Reagan referred to as, "the shining city on a hill".
I believe it is time for the United States to return to her Constitution . . . to live by it . . . to hold it up as the model for people everywhere and to quit trying to find ways around it (as some in the U.S. Senate are doing at the present time).
Whatever else it may be, the UN is NOT a government. There are those who may think it is . . . who may wish it to be so, but it is not. It is a place where problems of common interest can be considered by the legitimate governments of the world. And, that's all it is. To try to make it anything else plays right into the hands of those who would establish a "one-world" government.
Very simply stated, the UN is an organization . . . and, in the life of any such group, the time comes when consideration should be given to a couple of items: 1) has the organization served its usefulness and should it be disbanded ?; and/or 2) if it is to be continued, should its purpose be redefined and restructured to give it the ability to achieve its new direction ?.
The cost to support the various "missions" to the current UN is staggering. The cost to New York City to provide the services required is mind-boggling. The cost to the United States is ridiculous. In the case of the cost to support the various "missions" to the UN, could those funds be put to a better use solving some of the problems within the countries represented by those "missions" ? Personally, I would think so. And, in so doing, it just might reduce the size of the foreign aid budget of the U.S.
The American Revolution answered, once and for all, the question of whether Americans would be "citizens" or "subjects". To continue down a path that would put us back as "subjects" would, indeed, be a travesty. I, for one, will continue to be a "citizen" not a "subject".
