Robin Hood Was Not A Democrat

If you were to believe the hyperbole spouting from the spin doctors of the Democratic party, the agenda of leftist leadership revolves around taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Tax cuts benefit the wealthy, they say. Heartless conservatives have no compassion for the lowest strata of society, they cry. Our goal is to help the helpless, to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, they rant.
They - meaning the leaders of the Democratic Party - would have you believe their preferred attire consists of forest-green leotards woven from the shed coats of talking goats. They purport to reside within the comforting arms of old-growth Sherwood Forest, where ax blades are magically prohibited from touching the bark of psychic trees. They claim to care nothing for themselves, but are willing to give everything for their fellow man. Their battle, under the standard of unvarnished altruism, is to free "the people" from the evil embrace of the Nottingham Republicans.
Hogwash. The most comfortable, most elite, most caste-driven sub-culture in America consists of high ranking, celebrity Democrats. The poor are their pawns, useful tools to whom them throw gristle and moldy bones in return for votes. Though the Democrat ruse is to convince low wage earners and the voluntarily unemployed that refuse from their tables is but a sample of the gourmet meal to come, such is a bald-faced lie. They have no intention of ever providing anything but the most meager of rations.
The reason? The vision of the left is to foster false hope and create inescapable dependency. They wish to make the poor reliant, to position themselves as heroes of the common man. Their theology has far more in common with a noble/serf relationship than it does with helping one free themselves from the chains of poverty. They have been following this path since the 60's - beginning with Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" debacle. The result has been more poverty, more crime, more hopelessness, more division between the races.
And there, gentle reader, is the entire Democratic strategy. It lies in one simple word...division. In direct opposition to the teachings of Martin Luther King, a wise man whom the left publicly idolizes while trampling the ideals he championed, Democratic planners do not seek a color-blind society of equals able to freely follow their dreams. Instead, they fight to widen the divide between black and white, men and women, rich and poor. With near every speech they fan the flames of hatred. Again, they use the poor as pawns, telling them that they deserve something for nothing, that they are being used and abused, that the rewards of another's honest labor is rightfully theirs.
The poor are being used and abused - no argument - but it is the Democrat Machiavellis who are doing the using and abusing.
The left's reaction to the Bush Tax Cut is an obvious example of this class warfare. Tom Daschle appears on TV, speaking of the myriad citizens who will be hurt by tax relief. Grinning like a Cheshire, he barely contains his glee at the opportunity to label the Bush Administration as uncaring. While speaking of the largesse that would go to the rich (aka; those with jobs) and the necessities stolen from the poor, there is something Tiny Tom forgets to mention.
The only people who receive a tax break are those who pay taxes. Daschle and company, unbelievably, are complaining that the tax break is not applied to those who DON'T pay taxes. They want more money for those who DON'T contribute, who live off the crusts and crumbs they dribble out in return for support of the Donkey Party.
You see, Democrats hate the idea of programs which benefit the average working family or the average small business owner. They are against legislation that helps the individual get a bit ahead of the game. They have a visceral reaction to capitalism in general, preferring a Socialist state bereft of progress and incentive. Their dream is that of mass dependency, for such a Utopia would allow them to stay in power and amass greater personal fortune. Odd how the most odious oppressors tend too paint themselves as caring liberators.
Sadly, those already dependent upon government hand-outs, who have little hope, will continue to buy the myth of Democrats as latter-day Robin Hoods. Sadly, they have yet to realize that the Merry Men of the left have filed a change of address. They now lounge within the highest tower of the most opulent castle, jingling their coins and laughing at the peons below who beg for their scraps.
Elvis has left the building.
Robin Hood has left the forest.
