Michael Moore: ‘Terrorists Will Win’
By Gordon Bishop (07/20/04)
Michael Moore, the controversial filmmaker of Fahrenheit 9/11, says this on his own website:
“The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not insurgents or terrorists, or The Enemy. They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow – and they will win.”
Sure, just like the Nazis, Fascists, the Taliban and Al Qaida won?
Moore’s 9/l1 movie is not a documentary. It is a two-hour commercial bashing President Bush. He admits he did the movie to get rid of Bush in this year’s presidential election.
Most of what Moore has in his anti-Bush film is fiction, not fact, according to Christopher Hitchens, author and columnist for Vanity Fair magazine, book critic for The Nation, and editor at New York’s Newsday, all liberal publications.
Moore’s film is being distributed by the leftist Front Row Entertainment in America, which is arranging to have Hezbollah, a terrorist organization, distribute the movie in the Mideast.
Hezbollah is the Syrian- and Iranian-backed terrorist group that pioneered suicide bombings against Americans more than 20 years ago – the terrorist group second only to Al Qaida in number of Americans murdered, the terrorist group that now operates against the United States in Iraq, according to Scripps Howard News Service.
Like his Radical Islamist admirers, Moore disapproves not only of the ouster of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, but even of the toppling of the Taliban in Afghanistan, Scripps Howard reports on its news service.
“If Mr. Moore is uncomfortable at having fanatics as fans, there’s a simple way for him to provide it: Say publicly that he does not want and will not accept support from Hezbollah, and cut ties with Front Row Entertainment distributor,” Scripps says.
Most of Moore’s “facts” have proven to be lies, Scripps news service pointed out.
This is what prominent author, columnist, critic Christopher Hitchens has to say about Moore and his “whacko” film:
“To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this movie film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious.
“Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice, masking itself as a demonstration of ‘dissenting’ bravery.”
In late 2002, almost a year after the al-Qaida assault on American society, Hitchens had an onstage debate with Moore at the Telluride Film Festival.
In the course of this exchange,” Hitchens says, “Moore stated his view that Osama bin Laden should be considered innocent until proven guilty. This was, Moore said, the American way.”
Moore characterized the Afghanistan intervention by the U.S. as unjustified.
Moore also said that Saddam Hussein was no problem. “No problem at all,” Hitchens said.
“I think we can agree that the film is so flat-out phony that ‘fact-checking’ is beside the point,” Hitchens said.
“If Michael Moore had had his way, Slobodan Milosevic would still be the big man in a starved and tyrannical Serbia and Bosnia, and Kosovo would have been cleansed and annexed,” Hitchens continued.
“If Michael Moore had been listened to, Afghanistan would still be under Taliban rule, and Kuwait (the Gulf War) would have remained part of Iraq. And Iraq itself would still be the personal property of a psychopathic crime family, bargaining covertly with the slave state of North Korea for WMD (weapons of mass destruction),” Hitchens concluded.
So who do you believe? Michael Moore, or America’s commitment in the War on Terror?
Curiously, since 9/11 there have been no terrorists’ attacks on America.
No one can predict the future. But I’ll bet that the free world of self-governance led by Bush will prevail.
Freedom is much greater than “appeasement,” which can lead to the end of the USA and the free world.
You decide – based on the facts.
