We Told You So America
By Jon Alvarez (07/22/04)
Well America, we told you so. Last year, when we formed the group, Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood (PABAAH.com), we began to keep a list of those Hollywood celebrities who chose to stand in opposition to American efforts to protect herself from the threat of terrorism. Many of our earliest critics told us we were overreacting to the words and deeds of a few Hollywood flakes.
Despite what we saw as some very alarming and disturbing trends coming out of Hollywood, we were told to simply ignore these people and their message. We took it upon ourselves to report to the American people what these celebrities, whom we have supported for so long with our hard-earned dollars, had said and done to undermine the War on Terror. After all, we've seen how fans around the globe worship their favorite celebrities and cling to their every word and deed. However, unlike the master of misrepresentation Michael Moore, we've never had to make up any of the information concerning the anti-Americanism of Hollywood. We've merely reported what they have said and done. It seems America is beginning to take notice.
Last year, upon learning of director Michael Moore's intentions to make a film concerning 9/11 and President Bush, we began a campaign to protest the making of this film. Our efforts alerted many of our fellow Americans of the true intentions of Michael Moore and his anti-American agenda. Once again, our critics told us to wait and see the movie before reacting. Since then, we've confirmed that Fahrenheit 9/11 is a "political hit piece", as predicted, and is grossly mired in misrepresentations, mistruths and lies. What should be telling to all Americans is the unwillingness of our political opposition here at home to admit this. In other words, their hatred for President Bush and our nation's strong response to the threat of terrorism allows them to suspend reality. What's disturbing about this film is that, while most Americans realize it is nothing but fiction, the Arab street will fail to recognize that. Michael Moore will fuel anti-American hatred around the globe. For that reason, we have begun a petition to Attorney General John Ashcroft, urging him to charge Michael Moore with treason.
The American public seems to agree with our assessment. Just this week, singer Linda Ronstadt was the latest Hollywood celebrity to discover this, after she chose to expose her true feelings about our country's efforts to fight terrorism. While performing in Las Vegas, Ms. Ronstadt dedicated a song to Michael Moore and his treason, calling him a "patriot", while lashing out at America. The audience proceeded to boo, walk out, and deface her posters in the lobby. What is so telling about this incident is that mainstream America is finally awakening to the true nature of Hollyweird and its politics. We don't take kindly to pampered celebrities bashing our country and our president, especially during a time of war. Just ask Whoopi Goldberg, who was quickly canned by Slim Fast, thanks to the American public speaking out and denouncing her. (Be sure to contact Slim Fast and The Aladdin Hotel in Vegas, let them know you agree with their actions) Are we seeing a new trend in America?
We'd like to think so. According to the AFP news release following the Dixie-Chicking of Ronstadt, "The incident marked the latest backlash against liberal US entertainers who criticize Bush and follows comedienne's Whoopi Goldberg's sacking last week by a diet products company following her raunchy rant at the conservative president at a Democratic fundraising concert." In other words, Americans have finally had enough and are speaking out against liberal Hollywood and its proverbial biting of the hand that feeds them. As consumers, we have every right to make our feelings known to those who seek to profit from our patronage.
So what else has Hollywood been up to? Just recently, we learned the Emmys would be rewarding the anti-Reagan smear film "The Reagans" with 7 nominations. We have asked all Americans to voice their displeasure with this by contacting the folks at the Emmys as well as ABC and its sponsors. Mainstream America is not going to sit idly by while these people tap dance on the grave of Ronald Reagan. This is nothing more than a slap in the face to all who contacted CBS last year to convince them to do the right thing and cancel its airing of this distorted film. We are also asking Americans to no longer support those theatre chains that chose to air Michael Moore's treasonous film. After all, why not wait and buy the DVD of the movie you wish to see as opposed to spending more money for uncomfortable, crowded, and noisy seats and expensive popcorn?
For the most part, Hollywood seems to be learning a valuable lesson. Many of the celebrities on our boycott list have been relatively quiet in 2004. Some say there is an element of fear in Tinseltown. That's good. We feel vindicated in our efforts to alert the American public as to the true agenda of those so dependent on earning our entertainment dollars. After all, it is our money to spend as we choose, isn't it? Be afraid Hollywood, be very afraid.
