America: It’s 2004 - Do You Know Where Your Friends Are?

It’s time Americans took a long and honest look at our “friends” in Europe, particularly France, Germany, and Russia. As John Kerry crosses the country condemning President Bush for alienating our “good friends” with his aggressive ways and going to war with Iraq against France and Russia’s wishes, Americans need to step back and tune out the political rhetoric. Americans must realize that we cannot leave our fate in the hands of countries that sell weapons to our enemies. If most Americans saw in black and white all of the treachery inflicted on the United States by their “friends” they would be demanding that Bush break diplomatic ties. Would Americans have tolerated France selling weapons to Japan during World War II?
As Kerry scoffs at the countries that are our true friends he praises those that illegally provided Saddam with the weapons now being used to kill the coalition troops and innocent Iraqi civilians. What is sickening is that John Kerry knows what they have done and doesn’t care. The Democratic spin doctors consistently ignore the United Nations “Oil for Food” scandal and the involvement of our “good friends” in Europe. How these liberals can look into the camera and say “the sanctions were working” defies reason. The sanctions were successful at two things: Lining the pockets of France, Germany, Russia, China, and Saddam and starving a reported 250,000 thousand Iraqi children to death.
People may not know that Jacques Chirac and Saddam were and remain good friends. Their friendship goes back to the 1970’s when Chirac arranged to have France build Saddam a beautiful nuclear plant from which Hussein could have obtained the nuclear fuel that he needed to make nuclear bombs. Saddam could have used those bombs against Israel or as a threat against any country in the Middle East--or the United States.
After the Gulf War, Saddam’s fury was unleashed on his own people. The United Nations stood by as he slaughtered his own people by the tens of thousands. Hussein was a butcher but he was not stupid. He soon devised ways around any sanctions placed upon him. It seems there were plenty of people who were willing to help him obtain whatever he wanted. Something Saddam didn’t seem very concerned about was providing food and medicine for his own people. The United Nations, charged with protecting the Iraqi people and assuring that they had food and medicine, abandoned them to the thieves of the world and the jackals in their own midst.
The “Food for Oil” program was under United Nations control and Saddam had lots of oil to sell. The world was full of greedy people. It was a marriage made in hell for the Iraqi people. Though the investigation continues despite the United Nations stonewalling, it may well turn out that people in very high places were involved in starving thousands of Iraqi children to death. With the full knowledge that it was their own corrupt dealings and not the American-inflicted sanctions causing the Iraqi people’s suffering, Europe--joined by the leftists here in America--continued to blame the “evil, heartless Americans” and applied constant pressure to lift the sanctions. With the sanctions gone, Saddam would have been like a kid in a candy store, buying any and all the weapons he desired. Saddam’s good friends from France, Germany, and Russia would have been at the front of the line to sell Saddam whatever he wanted.
There should be no doubt that France and Russia never would have voted to remove Saddam from power--NEVER. Both countries had billions of dollars owed to them by Saddam and billions more to be made. Neither France nor Russia cared about the Iraqi people. Nor did either care about American or British casualties when it became apparent they were not going stop the war. Their goal was to keep Saddam in power and have the sanctions lifted. That apparently was the deal struck with Saddam for the billions in oil vouchers. It wasn’t an “oil for food” program; it was an “oil for Iraqi children’s lives” program.
Documents have been uncovered and translated that show clearly that Chirac was sharing intelligence that he obtained from his meetings with Blair of England and his phone calls with President Bush. In short, Chirac gave Saddam our battle plans, troops strengths and deployment as well as our weapons systems. Stockpiles of rockets and weapons of all kinds with French markings and sale dates have been found and many were delivered within months of the war.
When the war started, Vladimir Putin had military advisors in Iraq when the war started trying to assist a disorganized Saddam and his two charming sons who were far too arrogant to take Russian advice. Disgusted by the lack of discipline and shocked at the swiftness of the coalition forces, these Russian military men were nearly killed by our bombs as they tried to get out of Iraq under the guise of being U.N. workers.
The British paper, "The Telegraph," reported that it was in possession of documents that clearly showed Putin was sharing intelligence with Saddam. Information obtained in top-secret phone conversations with Blair and Bush and other coalition leaders was freely given to Saddam. Weapons were delivered. Ammunition and tank carriers as well as electronic jamming equipment and night vision goggles were delivered to Saddam from Russia and France in the days leading up to the war. This wasn’t done for money. Both France and Russia knew that Saddam and his regime would fall. They did it for one reason. Chirac and Putin hoped that as many American, British, and coalition troops would be killed as possible. Perhaps that was their revenge for removing their cash-cow in Iraq. Perhaps Chirac and Putin hoped that Bush would fall from grace with the American people if the causality count was high.
The United Nations is not idle. They are working closely with the equally corrupt World Court in an attempt to thwart any future American attempt at another pre-emptive strike on their friends like Iran. If the United Nations and the World Court have their way, American soldiers will be treated as war criminals for protecting their country from attack. The United Nations and World Court would be judge, jury, and jailer for our men and women in uniform for any action not under United Nations control.
Don’t be fooled by the United Nations threats to Iran about Iran’s desire for nuclear weapons. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Muhammad al-Baradai will not stop the radical Islamic leaders in Iran from getting nuclear bombs. Al-Baradai will not stop them because they are fellow Muslims. He will threaten, but he will take no action. Annan will not stop the genocide in the Sudan because he does not want to anger the radical Islamic government carrying out the genocide.
War is the reality of today’s world. It will once again be, as it was in World War II, the coalition of the willing that will fight this world war. John Kerry insults that coalition and praises our enemies. Kerry longs to be “accepted” once again by America’s treasonous “friends” and the corrupt United Nations. It is no wonder that our enemies want a President John Kerry. Terrorists are the ones doing the killing but they are doing the killing with weapons sold to them by countries that profess to be our allies--as the United Nations looks the other way. In truth, as Shakespeare said, "'Tis time to fear when tyrants seem to kiss."
