A Message To Conservatives: The Fight Is Far From Over!
By Dave Gibson (12/13/04)
While the re-election of President Bush was a hard-fought and rather satisfying victory, it was only the first battle in what will be a long war against the liberal left. Make no mistake, people of conscience and those in possession of common sense have little choice but to wage war. If we do not, this nation will become unrecognizable in the near future.
Our enemy is not only the most radical left, but those who accommodate them as well. I am speaking of the so-called 'moderate Republicans' or RINO(Republican In Name Only) crowd. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) is a member of this rather spineless group.
Sen. Specter of course, warned President Bush a few days after the election against nominating anti-abortion judges to the Supreme Court. If we do not place conservative judges on the court...there was very little point to this election. Specter is the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and after his comments, should have lost that post. However, Bush did nothing.
We must understand that while the defeat of John Kerry was a repudiation of the liberal agenda--we have not elected a truly conservative president. Bush is really a moderate, he merely appeared to be conservative when compared to the ultra-liberal Kerry.
Many Republicans and even conservative talk show hosts hold firm to the claim that President Bush appealed to a wide range of voters. However, it was the conservative base who Bush has to thank. Regardless of what the spin-meisters tell us, this election was decided on moral values.
History was made on November 2, 2004. We saw the largest number of Americans participate in an election. Eleven states placed initiatives on their ballots which would ban homosexual marriage. The measures passed in all eleven states, with an average of 70 percent of the vote. The referendums helped to energize conservatives and in large measure increased voter turn-out.
Bush claims that he now has "political capital" and "intends to spend it." We must make certain that he remembers just who gave him that "capital" and exactly how he must spend it. We must hold President Bush and the Republican Congress to their promises.
Bush recently made many conservatives angry as he welcomed singer Elton John and his boyfriend to the White House for a gala reception. The function was held in conjunction with the Kennedy Center Awards, at which the British singer was honored. That's right, our so-called conservative, God-fearing President held a reception for Elton John and his homosexual lover. I wonder if that scene would have taken place if the Kennedy Center held their awards ceremony before November 2nd?
Please do not make the mistake of believing that George Bush is the leader of the conservative movement. We the people are the collective leader of this movement. In fact, 20 years ago Bush would have been considered a Democrat. It is just that the Democratic Party has tilted so far to the left that anyone who is not a socialist is now considered conservative.
As I said in an earlier article...this election was a victory of decency over deviancy. This fight will not be won until the abhorrent practice of abortion is ended, the homosexual agenda is placed back inside the closet, and we return this nation to the ideals upon which it was founded (including Christian values).
Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of savoring the defeat of John Kerry. As I write these words, there is currently an assault on Christmas. School children are not being allowed to sing traditional Christmas carols, nativity scenes are being banned, and even the word Christmas is being replaced by the non-descript term Holidays. All of this is occurring without so much as a word from our president.
The fight continues...stay strong!
