Massachusetts Begins Marriage Mockery

While America continues to self-flagellate over the Abu Ghraib Prison scandal, a cultural revolution is taking place within our own borders. It threatens to rip at the fabric of society like nothing we have seen since Roe vs. Wade. And like it or not, it is coming to your town unless it is stopped by the vast majority of people who claim to oppose it.
It is homosexual “marriage.” Several months ago, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court declared that, starting in May of this year, the state must begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
We all knew it was coming, but like Nero fiddling while Rome was incinerated, far too many Americans have tried desperately to pretend it would not affect them. Well, it is here, and it is not going to be pretty.
We got a preview when the lawless mayor of San Francisco began issuing marriage licenses to homosexuals in violation of state law. But this time it is with the blessings of a court, and as the circus begins in Massachusetts, same-sex marriage advocates are warning homosexual couples to maintain a low profile. They want to keep up the charade that they are simply victims of discrimination who just want to “be with the person they love.” The fear, of course, is that these so-called “weddings” will become obscene spectacles, stationary versions of the gay pride parades that have come to characterize the homosexual movement over the years.
Telling practicing homosexuals to “tone it down” is a bit like telling hopeless drug addicts to “cut back” or “behave yourselves.” While the public prefers to think in terms of shy souls simply “coming out of the closet,” the truth is that homosexuals have been kicking down the closet doors for years. Now that they are on the verge of destroying the definition of marriage, some observers look for them to indulge in the biggest, bawdiest celebrations they can possibly stage.
Consider a recent Associated Press story, which tells us that someone named David “Dixie” Federico, a person described as “a former drag queen and newly ordained minister in Provincetown,” bristled at the idea that gay couples should be forced to tone it down after being denied marriage for so long. The article says that “Dixie” predicts that tradition will be the order of the day—at least for the first few weeks.
Congress has begun the agonizingly slow process of passing a federal amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would define marriage as the union of a man and a woman, a notion so self-evident to our Founders it would never have occurred to them to put it in the original document. Gov. Mitt Romney has been working to amend the state constitution, but as is usually the case when radical activist judges run roughshod over the wishes of the electorate, Massachusetts voters will have no say on this issue until November of 2006. In the meantime, homosexuals will be flocking to the Bay State from all over the country in order to obtain a marriage license and return home to demand that their “marriages” be recognized there.
Roe vs. Wade led directly to the destruction of 40 million Americans who would otherwise be with us today. No-fault divorce laws have created an epidemic of broken homes by allowing unfaithful spouses to walk away from their marriage vows. Arrogant judges who hold that there is a “right” to commit homosexual sex acts have struck down anti-sodomy laws. Alienation of affection statutes are now considered anachronistic.
Twenty years from now, will homosexual marriage be as common to us as these things? Unless this mockery is stopped now, that could very well be the case.
