He Is Merely The One They Caught
By Dave Gibson (04/27/05)
A Muslim scholar living in Virginia was recently found guilty of training terrorists and encouraging his fellow Muslims to fight a holy war against this nation. Ali al-Timimi now faces a mandatory life sentence for urging other Muslims to join the Taliban and kill Americans.
Federal prosecutors presented evidence that al-Timimi and several of his fellow Muslims encouraged by the 9/11 attacks, trained for combat by playing paintball in the northern Virginia woods. It was also revealed that three of al-Timimi's associates traveled to Pakistan and trained with a Muslim terrorist group known as Lashkar-e-Taiba.
While al-Timimi was caught and will apparently now spend the rest of his life in a federal prison, his case offers a glimpse of what is occurring inside Muslim communities across the United States. How many more Muslim scholars and clerics encourage acts of terrorism, recruit Muslim fighters, and send money to Islamic terrorist groups?
Considering the large number of Muslims living in the U.S. and their unwillingness to broadly condemn Muslim terrorism--their presence is a frightening prospect indeed.
The al-Timimi case brings to light once again the concern that there are terrorist cells operating inside America's growing Muslim population. We could very well have a terrorist army living in this country. They move about with all of the freedoms that any American enjoys and under the cover of "religious freedom"--plot to kill vast numbers of us.
Dearborn, Michigan for instance has the largest Muslim community outside of the Middle-East. 300,000 Muslims call Dearborn and the surrounding area home. Can you imagine the threat that community would pose to this country if only a third of them decided to join the jihad against the U.S.?
I would combat the problem in two ways: Any Muslim inside this country who is not a citizen, would face immediate deportation to their home country. Also, every Muslim American citizen would be required to take an oath of loyalty to the United States, as well as complete volunteer service outside of their own communities. Anyone who refused the oath or the service requirement would be sent to an interment camp, until the end of the war.
If we do not wake up to the real and present danger that Muslims living inside this country pose...we will undoubtedly be waking up to another deadly terrorist attack.
