FX’s Meltdown Solves The Terrorist Problem - It Was Us All Along

If and when Hollywood filmmakers get around to producing a film about 9/11, what nationality and religion will they make the terrorists? My guess is German, the old standby, though they might cast some indistinguishable Eastern Europeans, maybe even some Russians. For certain they won’t be Middle Eastern or Muslim. That would be profiling, and that would be wrong.
The perils of profiling terrorists as Muslims was brought home Sunday by the FX Network in its made-for-TV movie, Meltdown, in which terrorists captured a California nuclear power plant. I tuned into this epic just to see what nationality the evildoers would be, and sure enough they weren’t Middle Eastern or Muslim. They were just pretending to be Middle Eastern and Muslim for the first hour or so in order to trick the bumbling officials trying to stop them and to teach a lesson to us bigots watching. Just because terrorists speak Arabic and spout from the Koran doesn’t mean they aren’t Germans. In fact, it probably means they are. Germans are clever.
The terrorists turned out to be disgruntled GIs, probably of German ancestry, except for the token black guy, who actually didn’t seem to know what he was doing in the movie other than waiting to be killed, which he was. Slandering American soldiers, like slandering Germans, is not only within Hollywood’s PC parameters, it’s practically mandatory if you want to be taken seriously. It’s something filmmakers began doing carte blanche at about the time John Kerry, who looks a little German, began committing war atrocities in Vietnam.
In Meltdown, American soldiers were both the bad-guy terrorists and the bad-guy killers of the terrorists. They were the gung-ho thugs who just couldn’t wait to get in there and mess things up. When they did get in there they murdered the suspects to hide the truth. It was Hollywood’s D-Day anniversary tribute to our servicemen.
There actually was a Muslim. He was a valiant Pakistani in charge of the reactor, and with him the filmmakers showed some real creativity. They had him reprimand the soldier-terrorists for connecting Islam and killing--thus making him the first Muslim moderate to break the universal vow of silence and come out publicly against Islamic terror, though it wasn’t in public actually and he really didn’t condemn terrorism per se. Of course, he was murdered by the nonterrorist soldier thugs as he desperately tried to stop the core from overheating and killing millions of innocent Americans. You see, Muslims only want to save us. It’s our soldiers and government who are screwing things up.
At the ending of the movie, the government covers up the American connection and blames the whole thing on Islamic fundamentalists from the Philippines. Not only are we the real terrorists, but our government knows it and blames innocent Muslims. That dovetails nicely with the belief of many Muslims that America is really covering up 9/11, which was probably carried out by Bush himself, if not by the Jews, the same ones behind the recent attacks in Saudi Arabia. These Muslims would blame Germans if not for the fact that most Muslims were allies of the Nazis in World War II. Besides, with both Jews and Americans to blame for everything, who needs Germans?
In Meltdown virtually all Americans except the terrorists were cowards. The police, security guards and all the workers simply turned tail and ran for their lives, leaving the plant exclusively to the terrorists within a minute or two. There were two exceptions, a security guard and his police companion. Of course, one was black and the other female, which explains their courage. Everyone knows that white American males are too lame these days to defend themselves, let alone a nuclear power plant. In the 9/11 movie, the heroes on that Pennsylvania plane, like the heroes in the twin towers, will all be heroes of color, or women. There might be one sorry white guy. He’ll be the one shaking, mumbling Bible verses.
Why are all government workers and elected officials such lying ignorant conspiratorial incompetents? The only exception is the rogue official, who was wronged some time in the past but willing to forget about it now to save the country. Wouldn’t America be better off if we just hired rogues from now on? I’d feel more comfortable. Forget about the dutiful bureaucrat; hire the loose cannon, the one who sabotaged his own career on the way up. So what if he has a slight drinking problem and his wife just left him? He can be trusted at least.
The rogue in Meltdown was the hero of course. When the trigger-happy Army guys and the nincompoop bureaucrats wanted to shoot their way inside the reactor he counseled caution. He wasn’t a rouge for nothing. He’d earned his status by punching out a higher official who curtailed his investigation into the attack on the USS Cole. That probably was a disgruntled GI operation too, and he just got too close to the truth.
This time he knew it just couldn’t be Arabs or Muslims in that power plant. For one thing, he knew you can’t blame Arabs or Muslims for terrorism in movies anymore. He was no profiler, not this rogue. Thank god the soldiers proved too cowardly to carry out their initial attack, and they were forced to do it the rogue’s way. All of Southern California was saved (damn!).
Here’s a question: Who do liberals in Hollywood think should run our government or our military? They hate the people who actually do run things so much they smear them in every movie they make--much to the delight of American haters worldwide. Yet they actively oppose any efforts to reduce the size of government. They love big government; it’s just the people in it they detest.
It’s not clear whether Hollywood, like the mainstream media, actually does believe that Arabs or Muslims are responsible for any terrorism. The left seems scared, terrorized actually, to even imply that a Muslim might have done something terroristic at some time, at least something that wasn’t provoked by our government and justified.
Ironically, this fear of blaming Muslims is caused by a very real fear of Muslims themselves, at least of their lawyers, and that is the reason we haven’t seen a movie on 9/11. Hollywood is waiting for more forgetting to take place. It shouldn’t be long. American students probably can’t even tell you what month 9/11 occurred in, let alone what century. They’re not being taught who was responsible, only that it was America’s fault. The perpetrators were simply terrorists, and to say more is racism. So when the murderers on those planes all sound like leftover Krauts from Schindler’s List no one is going to be confused. You don’t need to able to read or write to know the bad guys. Damn those Germans. You bastards!
