When all else fails blame the Americans

Toronto’s Mayor David Miller is blaming the gun violence in Canada’s largest city to “lax” gun laws in the United States.
A day after there were six non-fatal gun shot victims in the city of Toronto and another man shot dead at point blank rage while sitting in a Mississauga Shopping center parking lot, is it not time for everyone to realize that we have a domestic problem and stop looking for other people to blame?
Our border is a sieve and a majority of the guns on our city streets do come from the U.S. but instead of complaining about their second amendment rights, why not direct the anger where it might actually do some good.
Our federal government wastes billions on a gun registry that the police admit is useless especially in urban centers where the criminals for some reason don’t seem excited to register their Glocks.
Our border enforcement is stretched to the limit, they lack the tools they need to inspect a growing number of vehicles crossing the border and in some cases our homeland is defended with nothing more then a closed sign and some orange pylons.
Our federal government needs to immediately amend the criminal code to reflect the growing prevalence of gun crimes, scrap the gun registry and redirect the financial resources away from advertising and bureaucracy and into border patrols and frontline police. This will have the double benefit of not only catching weapons before they enter our country but added vigilance on the border will enhance our security from terrorists that currently move across our border at will.
34% of firearm related homicides in Canada are committed by long guns meaning that the majority 66% are committed with handguns which, for the most part, are restricted in Canada and except for a statistically insignificant number are in our communities illegally and to the surprise of the bureaucrats unregistered with the government.
Canada must do more when it comes to stopping the flow of illegal weapons into our country and arresting and prosecuting those that possess and use those weapons in our communities. The first step is protecting our borders not tossing criticisms over it.
