"...an utterly corrupt new religion called environmentalism..."
If the history of this planet's climate over millions of years is any guide, we are about to enter a new ice age.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper indicated in a 1993 interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he wants to see the United States become a Muslim country.
Happiest America

Two things first. One is that some people are having difficulty reading the small text on the tables or figures I put in the upper right. I have a 17" flat display, which is sharp enough at 1280X1024 resolution to read 8 point text. But, not everyone is so fortunate, and I keep forgetting that what I see may not be what other's see. So, from now on all figures and tables on this blog will be clickable to the larger website version. I will so note, as I've done on the figure above. Second, I've now revised the back of the Democratic Peace Chart to make it more legible. It was incredibly painful to have to eliminate a table/figure or so to make room, but I preserved the most important. Let me know. The online version (85dpi) of Version 6 is here, and the pdf (150dpi) is here. I've increased the resolution in both cases to improve legibility.

Okay, on to our happiness. As reported in the The Washington Times, a July 17 to July 21 Harris poll of 1,000 adults found that:
58 percent are "very satisfied with their lives," compared with a 15-country European average of 31 percent. In polls taken two years ago, those figures were 57 percent and 26 percent, respectively.
An additional 56 percent of Americans think their lives have improved since 2000, compared with a 45 percent average among the Europeans. Two years ago, 49 percent of Americans felt that their lives had improved, compared with 39 percent of Europeans. . . .
In order to make the comparisons, the Harris poll used the same questions posed to Europeans in the massive Eurobarometer survey released at the end of 2004, which surveyed 1,000 persons in member countries of the European Union.
A few individual countries outranked Americans on portions of the happy meter, Harris found. But not by much.
The only country that tops the United States in terms of overall satisfaction is Denmark, where 64 percent said they were "very satisfied" with their lives -- six points higher than their American counterparts.
Next in line was Luxembourg at 51 percent, the Netherlands and Sweden (tied at 44 percent), Ireland (39 percent) and Britain (33 percent). At the bottom of the heap were Germany (21 percent), France (18 percent), Italy (16 percent), Greece (14 percent) and Portugal (3 percent).
If American happiness is looked at in greater detail, as was done last October, Harris found that for 1,016 adult Americans:
Ninety-five percent feel good about their homes, 92 percent praised the quality of their lives overall, 91 percent were positive about their social lives, 88 percent said they were happy about their health and 85 percent gave thumbs up to their standard of living. . . . In addition, two-thirds of married respondents reported they were happy with their spouses — up seven points from last year, and the highest number in the history of the survey itself, which dates back to 1997. . . .
It found that 77 percent felt positive about "the morals and values in their community," up seven points since last year and 12 points since 1997. Another 55 percent applauded "the morals and values of Americans in general," up 8 points since last year, and 21 points since 1997.
Well, maybe there is something to greater American freedom and the free market (compared to Europe). This should be especially good news for the ethical utilitarians, who judge the goodness of a political system by the happiness of the greatest number.
Still, one must ask how come the media and academia are so negative about the country. You know, all the hunger, all the homeless, all the poverty, all the unemployed, all the crime, all the racism, all the price gauging, all the sexual discrimination, all the corrupt businesses, all the inequality, and above all, the Bush and neocon conspiracies. Something does not compute.

The United States Is Being Overthrown By Our Politicians - "A silent but all-reaching coup is taking place within the
United States. This coup is not being directed by bomb-laden Muslim terrorists, nor will it ever be covered by the mainstream media.
The seditious act is being carried out by our very own elected officials, with President Bush leading the insurrection."
"The FDA has conveniently used the excuse of looking out for consumer safety to increase their perverse regulatory power,
undermine free speech, disrupt commerce, and generally get in the way of helping people improve their health. The "half-truth" of
the safety issue is used as a ploy to reduce the rights of Americans, one freedom at a time. Once again, the FDA is seeking more
police power to intimidate supplement companies. This is one step in an overall FDA master plan to eliminate therapeutic nutritional
supplements from the free market. Those who lose are the American public." The FDA - A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
