Hillary has made an entire career out of riding the coattails of something or somebody since the beginning. Why is she known? Why is she famous? Why is she a junior senator? Bill. But lately Hillary has broadened her horizons and decided to ride the tails of anything else that could make her look good.
The London subways get targeted by terrorists, Hillary jumps on and whines about the lack of security in the New York subways. Whether it's true or not is irrelevant. Where has she been the last few years with the issue? It just became popular, so it was time to throw a curve in an attempt to fool the voters into thinking she cares. Again, if she cared so much, where are her past efforts?
She finds a sudden need to 'appear' more conservative? What better platform than to meet common ground on abortion issues? Never mind the fact that she didn't compromise a single stance, offer any advancement, or create any solutions. But hey, she talked about it! That's important.
Now games comes in. Hillary's people think it will be smart to get people on her side now, so she lines up a phony stance saying how important it is that we hold game companies accountable for the children's actions.
It might not be obvious to her, like most of reality isn't, but it must not have dawned on her that children are no longer the massive target group for these games anymore. the percentage of men between 18 and 25 that play video games, either PC or console style has skyrocketed. Also not the same is the percentages of female gamers that are out there.
These people are getting upset because they are aware that this issue being so public is going to lead to restrictions on game rating. It's also clear that this is just the first step. Once precedent is set, they'll start cracking down a little more and more each chance they get. If you're not sure what this issue is, read this article posted on the CBS News website.
In a study†done this year, AOL Games found that four out of five "gamers" ages 12 to 55 have played video games with their families. And almost half--46 percent--of all U.S. consumers have played online games, video games, or games on their cell phones and PDAs. The study suggests that 39 percent of adults ages 18 to 55 have played games on a computer, cell phone, PDA, or video game console. About 10 percent of those surveyed said that they were "addicted" to playing video games and 27 percent admit to even pulling all-nighters playing their favorites.
When you threaten to censor and entire group of younger voters by making unreasonable demands about things they like to do as hobbies, you can't expect good results. The problem is Hillary once again jumped the gun. This one's going to sting a little. She's going to lose more voters than she'll gain on this one.
†The AOL Games poll was conducted by telephone between April 21 and May 1 2005, and used a random sample of 1005 Americans. Some 801 adults aged 18 to 55 participated in the survey, along with 204 teenagers aged 12 to 17. The margin of error is +/- 3 percent.
