Surprised, But Delighted, By Jeanine’s Big Decision

Oh my gosh! Jeanine Pirro took the plunge! And now the entire nation is in for one heck of a Senate race. This is going to be incredibly exciting campaign for political enthusiasts, Republicans and Democrats alike. Frankly, I didn’t think that Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro was the least bit interested in challenging Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2006.
As late as last week, GOP bigwigs in New York disseminated the word that Ms. Pirro was definitely not running for the US Senate. Rank and file Republicans throughout New York were guessing that Jeanine Pirro was eyeing the state’s attorney general spot. Jeanine kept it close to the vest, made the decision in her own good time, and quickly started the process of galvanizing her supporters by dint of her wonderful announcement. In a Republican primary, Ms. Pirro will probably overwhelm the competition.
Indeed, it’s anticipated that campaign contributions will come pouring-in from all over America to fill both Jeanine and Hillary’s coffers. Simply put, these women are tremendously compelling figures that epitomize the struggle between Republicans and Democrats to garner the hearts and minds of Americans. Senator Hillary Clinton, although the darling of the Democratic Party, is considered by many to be a divisive, Far-Left politico who’s terribly conniving as she perpetrates a sham as a so-called “centrist”. Hillary has myriad supporters and detractors, which will make this race oh-so interesting.
Jeanine Pirro is a renowned District Attorney and national figure, who often provides legal commentary for Court TV and the various news channels such as Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. Ms. Pirro exudes charisma, confidence and intelligence as an on-air personality. Moreover, she projects as tremendously likeable and straightforward, which are pivotal characteristics for anyone running for public office.
In contrast, Hillary Clinton comes off as manipulative and shrill in many instances. As noted by Jay Cost of the Wall Street Journal, “This is Hillary's fundamental problem. She is a bad politician because she has a lousy style. She seems, always and everywhere, like an affected, calculating politician.” In other words, Hillary always appears to be “gaming” us.
In her announcement, Jeanine Pirro stated: “When Mrs. Clinton first came to us and said she wanted to be a New Yorker, she asked New York to put out a welcome mat and we did. But now she wants us to re-elect her even though she won’t promise to serve out her term and wants to use us as a springboard to the presidency. She’s asking us to become her doormat. I believe we deserve better.”
Clearly, New Yorkers don’t wish to be exploited as a way-station for Hillary in her quest for the Oval Office. In recent New York polling, about 60 percent of respondents wanted Hillary Clinton to complete her term, if re-elected. Jeanine Pirro is a native New Yorker, committed to the needs and wellbeing of New York, and, if elected to the Senate, will make New York her number one priority. Count on Jeanine to expose Hillary as a political chameleon and opportunist.
Some Republicans fret because Jeanine Pirro is not a social conservative. Let me say this as gingerly as possible: It would be exceedingly difficult for a social conservative to win an election in the New York City metropolitan area. That said, I have no doubt that Jeanine Pirro is conservative on economic and national security issues, and will properly support President Bush in this war on terror. Senator Hillary Clinton has only masqueraded as “tough on terror” politico, while bashing President Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on war issues, whenever it suits her agenda.
