WHY LIBERALS LOVE HIROSHIMA

Today, Hiroshima is loved by liberals because it is a place where America did tremendous evil. They love to say America is the only country to ever have used nuclear weapons, and that tells you something about America’s character. The best of the weak arguments they make is that the war was almost over anyway, the Japanese we trying to surrender, and so there was no point in killing all those innocent people.
The truth is as follows:
1) The number killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was actually small (300,000) compared to the 60 million that the Japanese and their Nazi friends had killed in the entire war that they started.
2) We has previously fire bombed Tokyo and killed many more people than were killed by the later nuclear bombs, and nobody said much about it.
3) The Allies had fire bombed Dresden a year earlier killing as many people as the nuclear bombs would kill and no one said much about that either.
4) While it is true that the Japanese were trying to surrender at the time, the essential fact is that they were trying to surrender to the Russians who had not even entered the war, and it was not an unconditional surrender. They wanted to conduct their own war crimes trials, and most importantly, they wanted to keep in place the Emperor and Military that had just killed 60 million people in their senseless psychotic war of aggression.
5) Without the bomb, the US would have had to invade Japan itself in which case the death toll on both sides would have been 10 times what is was at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On little islands like Iwo Jima and Okinawa we lost thousands of troops while the Japanese lost 10 times more, but still these were just tiny garrisoned islands with about 1% of the troops we would have faced on Japan itself.
6) The Japanese always fought to the death and often mutilated our soldiers to boot. They had planed an even more ferocious defense of the home land. Every man, woman and school child was taught how to fight and kill Americans in defense of the homeland. It was estimated that perhaps only 10% of the Japanese army had been engaged by the time of the proposed November invasion of Japan proper. The allies had won many battles but had not killed many troops.
7) Rather than face the loss of a million Allied soldiers during an invasion, America had developed a chemical arsenal of primarily mustard gas that if used would have killed millions of Japanese, far more than the nuclear bombs killed. There were also plans to drop 10 nuclear bombs at a time to clear landing areas, with an inestimable loss of life.
8) If the Japanese had a shred of sanity they never would have started the war. The thought of them surrendering without extraordinary nuclear losses was really unrealistic. They might have surrendered after Midway or after any one of the consecutive losses they suffered from Midway on but they did not even surrender after the first nuclear bomb was dropped, or after the Russians finally entered the war to open up whole new front, or even immediately after the second nuclear bomb was dropped.
9) After the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, the Russians entered the war in Manchuria and killed 100,000 Japanese in the first 3 days. Had we not dropped the second bomb, the Japanese seemingly would have fought on and lost more troops against the Russians alone than were lost to our tiny nuclear bombs.
10) At the time the war was ending, the Germans were sending the Japanese a dirty nuclear bomb to drop on San Francisco. Had allied intelligence not foiled this plan to nuke America, San Francisco might not be the liberal strong hold that it is today. All the liberals in San Francisco might thank God that we were able to use our nuclear bomb before the Japanese were able to use theirs.
11) After the first bomb was dropped all plans continued for the proposed November invasion of Japan meaning that there was no reason at the time to think that even nuclear bombs were sufficient to stop the very psychotic Japanese.
12) Some liberals claim that we only dropped the bombs, killing all those innocent people, to signal to the Russians that they should not be too aggressive in the inchoate cold war, and that all it really accomplished was to trigger a needless arms race. The truth is: the nuclear bombs were an essential ingredient to end the war, and the arms race that followed kept the peace for 45 years until the Soviet Union finally collapsed of its own ideological stupidity. And, there was an arms race that might have destroyed all of civilization only because dumb liberals all around the world loved and spied for Stalin’s caring Marxist ideology not knowing that it was really a deadly genocidal machine that was killing as many innocent people in the USSR as were killed everywhere in all of WW2.
So that leaves the question: why do the liberals love Hiroshima? Perhaps because they are desperate to find any excuse to hate America?
