Arianna Believes Bill Clinton Is a Suck-Up
By Steve Boggess (09/05/05)
I continue to be amazed at the liberal mindset of politics when it comes to President Bush.
She isn’t the first, and won’t be the last to spout her brand of liberalism. Arianna Huffington, in a column written by her on her online blog, The Huffington Post, she gets right down to business in blaming not only Bush’s so-called “ineptitude” at handling the Hurricane Katrina disaster, but also calling former president Clinton a “suck-up.”
She states: “What the hell was Bill Clinton thinking, standing there next to President Bush and providing verbal cover for the administration’s ludicrous claims that the problems plaguing New Orleans were unforeseeable.”
I’m sure he was thinking the same thing he was when he and another former president were surveying the catastrophic destruction brought on by the Tsunami that hit Bande Aceh in January of this year: “How can we help these people?”
Arianna states that in her opinion, this hurricane not only exposed Bush’s leadership failure and the consequences of “distorted priorities,” but also uses this disaster to illustrate her opinion that this Class Five hurricane exposed the left wing ideology of class warfare.
She does this by mentioning the “increase in poverty,” and the stagnation of incomes for the fifth straight year, and the post storm suffering among the poor in New Orleans. My question here is: Where is she getting her facts?
Did she also forget that both the Mayor of that city and the governor of the state were urged by President Bush to evacuate the city prior to the hurricane making landfall?
And that thousands of people refused to leave as they didn’t think the storm would hit close enough to New Orleans to do any real damage.
“President Bush squandered a teachable moment provided by 9/11, calling us not to national service, but to shopping.” Arianna, do you even know what you’re talking about here?
And that Bill Clinton is now making it harder to use the current disaster as a wake-up call about the pent-up anger bubbling just beneath the surface of our country, about the Other America largely hidden from view.
No, Arianna, you have already mentioned unemployment, and tilted your head toward the liberalism of class warfare.
Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would be so proud to read your words, Arianna.
Those devoted to Clinton are scratching their heads and wondering what happened to the man once lauded as the “first black president,” and who is also the darling of the Democratic Party.
She says that Clinton has been “remarkably consistent” when it comes to sucking up to President Bush.
Arianna, you unfortunately have succeeded in doing the same thing you and the rest of the liberal media accuse this president of doing every time he opens his mouth; politicizing the situation.
Thousands of people are at this time in need of help in the form of medical supplies, water, food, sanitation and a host of other support.
Just as Americans did on 9/11, we need to band together and help the citizens of New Orleans irregardless of race, creed, or political affiliation.
Arianna, you should bow your head in shame for even thinking about writing this article.
