Take A Stand For Liberty Before It Is Too Late

Let’s see now. If I understand this correctly, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has ordered the state legislature to make homosexual marriage the law of the state of Massachusetts. Because of the “Full Faith and Credit” clause of Article IV, Section 1 of the U. S. Constitution—notwithstanding the Freedom of Marriage Acts passed in 38 states to date—“gay” marriage has now all but become an “officially sanctioned institution” in the United States of America.
Forget, for the sake of argument, that American culture and jurisprudence was originally established upon the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God. [Many highly educated people argue quite eloquently that the U. S. A. was founded as a completely secular nation and see absolutely nothing wrong with an “institution” of homosexual marriage.] Ignore such wisdom from the Word of God as Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:18-32. [I’ve read the anonymous letter to Dr. Laura Schlessinger concerning Leviticus 18:22 (see www.2think.org/lauraschlessinger.shtml for details), and I’ve also read Chapter 2 of Romans!] Utterly disregard the hue and cry from millions of “right-wing zealots (read: conservative Christians) who want to preserve the institution of marriage that has been the bedrock of every prosperous society since time began. Even set aside for now, only for the sake of argument, the idea of civil and/or equal rights. [Some say that rights come from government—that it is government’s duty and responsibility to make all people equal. Others believe that rights come from a Creator and Author of Law Who made all people equal; and that government’s only duty is to protect and preserve the God-given rights of those who are responsible against those who would violate the rights of others.]
Neglecting all of the above, what does the U. S. Constitution say? Every American patriot reveres the Constitution as the law of the land. After the Preamble, the very first sentence—Article I, Section 1—clearly states: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.” Reading attentively through the entire document—at least through Article III, Section 2, paragraph 2, 2nd sentence: “In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.”—it becomes very clear that elected legislatures (not appointed judges) have the sole power and authority to enact law. Equally obvious is the fact that the courts are to be subservient to the legislature.
In a nutshell, the U. S. Constitution was established to deny tyranny of every sort and to uphold individual liberty. [Not personal license; but individual liberty! There is a huge difference.] When a court has not only the sheer gall, but also the tyrannical power to force its will upon an elected legislature, then the very idea of liberty has succumbed to judicial tyranny. If four appointed judges on the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts can force the elected body of representatives of the Massachusetts state legislature to enact a law respecting an establishment of the “institution” of “gay” marriage, then liberty has been lost and judicial tyranny has become the new standard.
Whether or not the decision of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to order the legislature to sanction “gay” marriage was moral or immoral—whether or not it was right or wrong—it is a blatant violation of both the letter and the spirit of the U. S. Constitution! This decision, manufactured by no more than four appointed justices, is an exercise of tyranny at the expense of individual liberty.
Sadly, this decision is only the natural progression from a now firmly established line of judicial tyranny in the good old U. S. A. When will Americans finally wake up and smell the manure that tyrannical elites have been shoveling for decades? Will Generation X take a stand? Or will we pass it off to Generation Y? If X and Y both fail to act, it will be the duty of Gen Z to reverse the tide. After Z, we’ve literally run out of letters. If Generation Z will not take a stand against tyranny, then I fear American liberty will have run out of time! If Z won’t do it, then American culture and human liberty may very well be lost forever.
I am a humble “Gen-X'er” who has questioned my teachers, professors, representatives and “popular culture”. I’ve taken many hits while attempting to take a stand for liberty. I can only hope and pray that my feeble stand will in some small way help to pave the way for the next couple of generations. I have two basic questions to ask of Generations Y and Z: 1) Do you understand true liberty?, and 2) Would you prefer to live under tyranny?
The American Experiment—in its unadulterated glory—provides the answer to both of these questions. The American Experiment, unfortunately, cannot be learned in today’s public schools and universities. Sadly, modern public institutions of “learning” are hostile to the American Ideal. The American Experiment/Ideal can only be fully understood in the context of its foundation. Its foundation is the Word and the Will of God—Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible.
To be sure, the preceding statement sounds bigoted and intolerant to many. It sounds close-minded and dogmatic to those who have been corrupted by the socialistic, “progressive”, “multicultural” messages of public education, mainstream media and popular culture. The Lie is now “truth” and Truth has become a “lie”. What was once good has now become bad. What was not so long ago considered evil has now become accepted. The whole world has been turned upside-down. Love of liberty is now bigotry and acceptance of tyranny has become “freedom”. George Orwell, in his own way, tried to warn us back in 1948. St. Paul said it better both in Romans 1:22 and II Thessalonians 2:7-12. Job, Isaiah and King Solomon warned us several millennia ago. [See, for example, Job 17:12, Isaiah 5:20 and Proverbs 17:15.]
Neither freedom nor liberty can come from a bureaucratic decree or a court order. Liberty is crushed by both. Government fiat and court mandates are the very essence of tyranny! America means liberty. Tyranny is America’s nemesis.
We have let tyrannical judges and politicians run roughshod over individual liberty in America for far too long. Secularist presidential candidate Howard Dean screamed too many times that he wanted to “take our country back” from traditionalists and moral absolutists such as Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Falwell. Where did that angry strategy take him? On the contrary, true lovers of liberty need to fight with everything we’ve got to wrest every vestige of liberty from the hands of every secularist politician, judge, academe and popular celebrity who would impose tyranny in any of its vile forms upon “We the People” of the United States of America.
One way to stand up for liberty would be to let Chief Justice Margaret Marshall (contact info @ www.state.ma.us/courts/courtsandjudges/supremejudicialcourt/admin.html#pio) know that We the People vehemently disapprove of her tyrannical decision to force the Massachusetts legislature to enact “gay” marriage. Another way would be to flood the members of the Massachusetts state legislature with calls, letters and emails in support of a constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage and so called “civil unions”.
I’m confident that Generation Z will turn out to be a wise and hardy bunch. But those of us who are alive today will do them no favor whatsoever if we fail to actively pursue our own responsibilities to keep liberty alive for them! Keep the blessings of liberty alive and well for our posterity! Stand up and fight for liberty and against moral relativism this very day before it becomes too late!
