Open Letter to Usama Bin Laden
By Brent Colbert (09/12/05)
So yesterday was the fourth anniversary of 9/11. I hope the rock you are hiding under was particularly dank and uncomfortable for you as millions of free people around the world remembered how your thugs murdered almost 3000 innocent people and set in motion the eventual destruction of your plans to extinguish liberty and freedom around the world.
If your plan was to terrorize we infidels you failed. It demonstrates your lack of intelligence to think that attacking an icon like the twin Tower would do anything but strengthen the resolve of free people to eradicate you and your ilk from the face of the planet. Perhaps you should have encouraged your people to study science, mathematics and commerce rather than turning schools into incubators of hate.
Unfortunately you and your rag-tag bunch didn't learn your lesson and tried your best in Bali, Madrid, and London to get us to back down, but except for a few people who lacked resolve, the world is more united than ever before.
Now I realize that Canada is on your hit list, we are the only nation left that you haven't tried to mount an attack against. I would speak to your humanity and suggest that the murder of innocent civilians would do nothing to advance your cause but those words would be wasted as you have no humanity as you demonstrated on many occasions.
So I will suggest that if you are planning an attack within Canada that you avoid the weekends especially long weekends. Why should I be concerned about the timing of a national emergency, well it would seem that after 5:00 on a Friday afternoon the emergency response personnel switch on the voice mail and head to the cottage.
Over the Labour Day weekend the Canadian Navy attempted to co-ordinate the disaster relief mission with the department of Emergency Preparedness in Ottawa and all they got was voice mail, the calls for direction and authorizations were not returned.
The Navy was trying to get approval to release emergency stockpiles to load on relief vessels that were tasked to aid in relief efforts in the American Gulf Coast. Failing to secure those approvals our armed forces took it upon themselves to go shopping in retail and surplus stores to purchase $1 million in supplies needed for their mission.
Even more shocking was the political interference in delaying the military's deployment until the Prime Minister was able to make his way to Halifax Harbour for a phony photo-op of you watching as the Coast Guard Vessel Sir William Alexander left port to have to return after the media event was over to complete loading materiel and supplies urgently needed in Louisiana and the rest of the disaster zone.
Usama, if you do make the foolish decision to attempt an attack on Canada do not assume that this government incompetence will give you the victory that you seek. Terror will not grow in the hearts of Canadians. We are a strong people, slow to anger for sure but once the Canadian spirit is awakened we will prove to be a unyielding adversary, we joined the collation to eradicate your bastardized religious sect in Afghanistan and along with our friends in the world community, freedom loving people from Cape Spear to Watson Lake will rise up and defeat you.
Canadians must begin to realize that our government has ignored the advice of Sir Winston Churchill "One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half." We need to demand answers to why our military had difficulty getting the authorizations to proceed, why politicians were able to delay life saving efforts so a partisan photo-op could take place and how badly our military has been under funded at the risk of Canadian's safety and security.
