We Are No Longer A Nation of Laws
By Dave Gibson (09/25/05)
Former President Clinton and current President Bush have both showed their disdain for U.S. immigration laws. Rather than working to change the laws through legal means, while still carrying-out their constitutional duties--both men have chosen instead to simply ignore the law. Thus, the United States is well on its way to Third World status.
President Bush as well as Congress are failing to protect this nation from foreign invaders. Of course, cheap labor and securing the Latino vote are the motivating factors. Both the executive and legislative branches of the federal government should be considered criminals. Their inaction is tantamount to aiding and abetting felony fugitives.
Illegal and even out-of-control legal immigration is costing this nation a heavy price. According to a 2005 study conducted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, illegal aliens are costing Texas taxpayers alone more than $4.7 million per year. The enormous price tag represents public education, healthcare, and state prison expenses.
No less than 12 percent of K-12 students in Texas public schools are here illegally or live openly as so-called 'anchor babies.' 350,000 pregnant illegals cross the border annually, anxious to drop their babies onto American soil. That method of childbirth achieves immediate citizenship for the child, as well as much sought after welfare benefits.
The average cost of delivering a baby in an American hospital is about $8,000. On the verge of birth, uninsured Mexican and Central American women invade emergency rooms throughout the Southwestern U.S. The hospitals are bound by law to treat them, the illegal gives birth to an American citizen, and the bill goes unpaid. Many hospitals in that region have been forced to file for bankruptcy, reduce their trauma services, or close their doors completely.
Contrary to what El Presidente Bush tells us...Not all illegal aliens are "here to work." 30 percent of this nation's total prison population is comprised of both illegal and legal immigrants. Many of these criminals enjoy a higher quality of life in American prisons than they did in their home countries. Once again, it is the American taxpayer who picks up the bill for these dregs.
While the cheap labor brought by illegal immigrants represents an easy trade-off for unscrupulous American employers--they are actually a tremendous untapped underground economy. A sum of $400 billion in taxes goes unpaid annually by illegal immigrant workers. In addition to entering this country illegally, they have become tax-cheats.
The financial burdens and the degradation of American culture are not the only detrimental effects laid upon this nation by the Mexican invasion. The spread of disease is now also a major concern. In the U.S., 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis have been discovered over the last five years. Almost all of the cases can be traced back to infected illegal aliens. Incredibly, the ancient disease of leprosy is also popping up in immigrant-dominated communities along the east coast.
Simple measures could be taken to stop the ongoing invasion. A wall could be placed along the Mexican border and could be guarded by either federal troops or National Guardsmen. Based on the cost of the Israeli West Bank border wall, a similar barrier could be constructed on the U.S.-Mexican border for approximately $3.5 billion. When you consider that the Republican-led Congress recently passed an incredibly pork-laden $300 billion "Highway Bill"--the cost of a border wall seems rather insignificant.
The federal government could employ the help of the National Guard to sweep illegal alien-laden American cities, they would face immediate deportation. Remember, these people are criminals and they do not enjoy the same rights as do American citizens. The second they cross the U.S. border illegally, they have committed a federal offense. Their very presence in this country affords them felon status.
Both Bill Clinton and President Bush should be brought up on federal charges for allowing our sovereign border to be constantly violated. Both men have turned a blind eye to lawlessness for political gains. However, the chance of Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez making this an issue is non-existent.
Of course, no action to stop the flow of illegals will be taken by Washington until the perpetrators of a catastrophic terrorist attack can be traced back to south of the border. Basically, many more Americans will have to suffer and die before the interests of American citizens takes priority over those in the 'cheap labor lobby.'
Anyone who is sworn to uphold the laws--must uphold all of them. Any such official does not have the luxury of picking and choosing which laws are enforced and which are ignored. However, the President and the Congress have done just that.
As usual, our politicians have placed their own interests ahead of those of their constituents.
