Barrett Endorses Kerry

“PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA: Conservative columnist Tom Barrett announced today that he has joined the long list of people who have endorsed Multi-Billionaire Senator John Forbes Kerry to become the Democratic nominee for president. The majority of those who have endorsed Kerry are Democrats seeking to gain Kerry’s favor with a man they hope will grant them political favors if he is elected. Barrett, a staunch Conservative, was asked why he had made his endorsement of Kerry, the ultimate left-wing Liberal. ‘I believe he is the easiest candidate for George Bush to beat,’ answered Barrett.”
I really hope that Kerry is the Democrat’s nominee. I hope that my endorsement gives him a boost. The only one who seems to be giving him a run for his money is John Edwards. If Edwards becomes the nominee, Bush would still win. But he might have to actually exert a little effort to beat Edwards, which would not be the case with Kerry. For one thing, Edwards actually has a personality, unlike “Lurch” (the nickname political pundits have applied to the humorless Kerry). Another advantage of Edwards is that he occasionally tells the truth, something of which Kerry could never be accused.
Because it appears that Kerry will win, most Democrats are rushing to endorse him, with the exception of Al Gore. I understand that Kerry has begged Gore NOT to endorse him, after Howard Dean’s crushing defeats that followed Gore’s endorsement of Dean. If Kerry does face off with Bush, the contrasts between the two will result in a decisive win for Bush. I will explore several of those contrasts, but I will let the President have the first word with regard to Kerry’s waffling on every issue imaginable.
This is from a transcript of a Bush speech earlier this week: “We meet during the presidential primary season. We're witnessing a clear trend - it looks like we have a winner in the Republican primaries. (Laughter and applause.) The other party's nomination battle is still playing out. The candidates are an interesting group, with diverse opinions: For tax cuts, and against them. For NAFTA, and against NAFTA. For the Patriot Act, and against the Patriot Act. In favor of liberating Iraq, and opposed to it. And that's just one senator from Massachusetts. (Laughter and applause.)”
In stark contrast, Bush is know for stating his views on important issues, and then having the courage of his convictions to stand unwaveringly for his beliefs, regardless of which direction the political wind is blowing. Kerry, like his mentor Michael Dukakis and his good buddy Bill Clinton, changes his positions more often than I change socks. His current views always depend on what the polls and his campaign advisors say.
But there are many other striking contrasts between Bush and Kerry that will insure Bush’s victory. Bush is mature and always a gentleman with his language. Recently Kerry, in an attempt to appear “cool” to the younger generation, used the “F***” word repeatedly in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine. In addition to my objection to his use of filthy language, I have two problems with this interview. First, why would a serious presidential candidate agree to an interview with a magazine that extols the virtues of drug use? Second, his use of gutter language to appeal to youth is an insult to the good young people of our nation, because it makes it clear that Kerry believes all our young people use obscene language.
Bush, although well-to-do, is not a wealthy man. But he has done more to help poor people in this nation in three years than his predecessor did in eight, by lowering the tax burden on our nation. As anyone who has studies economics knows, taxes and government spending strangle economic growth and job creation. By contrast, Kerry, who is worth many Billions of dollars, wants to repeal the Bush tax cuts so the government can spend even more. He claims to be the champion of the common people, yet he lives in two mansions worth many millions of dollars. If he really cared about the poor, he would do better to sell one of his mansions and give the money to them. Instead he wants to steal money from all Americans through abusive taxes so that he can give away OUR money instead of his own.
Bush served his country honorably during the Vietnam era in the Air National Guard. Although Kerry and his henchmen now try to paint all Guardsmen and Reservists with the same brush as deserters and draft-dodgers, nothing could be further from the truth. In Bush’s case, his commitment was for two and a half years (six months more than the time he would have served had he been drafted), and because of his jet pilot training carried with it a high likelihood of being sent to Vietnam. And Bush NEVER bashed the military personnel who served honorably in Vietnam.
In dramatic contrast, Kerry served for a few months in Vietnam, then came home and lied to Congress about supposed atrocities that he “heard about” but never saw. There is no doubt that there were crimes committed, but they were rare and were prosecuted when discovered. But Kerry called his fellow servicemen “rapists and baby-killers,” although he offered not one hint of evidence for his outrageous claims. For this he earned the undying hatred of millions of Veterans. Many of these did not agree with the war, but believed that Kerry’s shameful lies about them were all about his political advancement. He allied himself with Jane Fonda, who described the United States as “corrupt imperialists” and the vicious North Vietnamese government at “compassionate and enlightened.” “Hanoi Jane” and “Hanoi John”. Nice pair.
Here is an excerpt from Kerry’s supposedly “off-the-cuff” testimony to Congress. (The emotional, apparently "spontaneous" speech Kerry delivered that day was actually written by a speechwriter for Robert Kennedy named Adam Walinsky; Kerry was carefully rehearsed before the presentation.). In it Kerry claims that his fellow service members:
“…personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam."
Retired Green Beret Officer Don Bendell does an excellent job of refuting Kerry’s outrageous claims in his article at www.ConservativeTruth.org. I encourage you to read his open letter to Kerry there, entitled, “Retired Green Beret takes on John Kerry.”
According to www.WinterSoldier.com, “The appearance launched Kerry's political career. The charges he made shocked and sickened a nation, changed the course of a war and stained the reputation of the American military for decades. But the mass murder of civilians was never American policy in Vietnam. War crimes were the exception, not the rule. And the Winter Soldier tribunal itself - which John Kerry had helped moderate - turned out to be, in the words of historian Guenter Lewy, "packed with pretenders and liars." In fact, many who “testified” that they had committed atrocities in Vietnam were never in the service and had never set foot in that country. One who claimed to have been an officer who led his men in raping and killing turned out to be a former sergeant who had never left the United States.
Many, me included, believe that Kerry’s reprehensible statements gave aid and comfort to the enemy and indirectly caused the death of thousands of US servicemen. In a February 11, 2002 interview in the Washington Times, Ted Sampley, publisher of the U.S. Veteran Dispatch, said, “Joining the antiwar movement was possibly the worst thing he could have done to the soldiers still in the field," he said. "He basically gave aid and comfort to the enemy."
In his article, “The Chameleon Senator” (worth reading – see link below), Sampley states, “After Kerry, as a Navy Lieutenant (junior grade) commanding a Swift boat in Vietnam, was awarded the Silver Star, he used a loop hole in Navy regulations to leave Vietnam (and his crew) before completing his tour of duty. After returning home, Kerry quit the Navy early and changed the color of his politics to become a leader of VVAW.” VVAW is Vietnam Veterans against the War, a radical Communist organization that at one point had thousands of members.
A grassroots organization named Vietnam Veteran’s Against John Kerry goes further. They report that US prisoners of war in North Vietnam were told by their tormentors that several times when their nation was on the verge of surrendering, they were emboldened by reports that American citizens were against the war and would soon give up. So the war was lengthened and thousands more US and Vietnamese died because of the propaganda and lies that Fonda, Kerry and their fellow travelers spewed out.
One generally forgotten aspect of what Fonda and Kerry did to our military personnel is the personal agony they endured when they returned home. Thanks to the Communist propaganda they and their cohorts disseminated, returning Veteran’s were abused, spit on and called “Baby Killers” when they got off their ships and airplanes. Many of them never recovered from this betrayal. One indication of this is the huge rate of suicides among Vietnam Veterans, placed at somewhere between 20,000 and 200,000. (See the

Recently “Hanoi Jane” Fonda, doing damage control for her candidate, claimed that she hardly knew Kerry. But flyers from the Vietnam War era list both Kerry and Fonda as SPONSORS and speakers for events of the Vietnam Veterans Against War (a radical organization supportive of the brutal Communist North Vietnam government). If, as these documents prove, they were both sponsors of these events, then both she and Kerry are lying today. (Read more about this in the link to the US News & World Report article listed below.)
Last week CNN anchor Judy Woodruff asked Kerry about reports that he had accused "American troops of war crimes," during his testimony before Congress. He denied his statements, even though they were recorded by the Congressional Record as well as in his own book written shortly thereafter. Here is a US Officer that accused his own men of horrible atrocities. Then, while running for president, he lies about it hoping we will be stupid enough to believe him rather than the transcript of his testimony in the Congressional Record. Is this the kind of man we want for Commander-in-Chief?
The sickest part of this is that Kerry used his lies before Congress (knowing the whole nation was watching) to begin his political career. Kerry knew there was a huge pool of angry young people that he could forge into a political base that would vote for him BECAUSE he had betrayed his fellow soldiers. I believe that millions of Democrats who would normally vote Democrat regardless of the background of the candidate will either vote for a true patriot like Bush or stay home on Election Day because of what Kerry did to the Veterans of this nation.
One last note before we leave the subject of Kerry’s dishonorable service to US veterans. His political operatives scoured the nation to find and burn every copy of Kerry’s 1971 book, “The New Soldier.” Talk about a Search and Destroy mission! Today there are so few copies left that they sell on eBay for $500. Question: If Kerry has nothing to hide; if he is, as he says, proud of what he did and said concerning Vietnam: why doesn’t he reprint the book instead of trying to hide it?
Here are a few other brief contrasts: President Bush has strengthened our military and supports our service personnel in every way. Kerry has voted against every major weapons system since he has been in Congress. He has no respect for military men and women.
Bush is pro-life. Kerry is pro-death. He supports taxpayer-funded abortions and giving money to the UN to pay for abortions in other nations. He even voted against banning the most horrific form of child murder, Partial-Birth Abortion, in which the head of a live infant is delivered, and the “Doctor” punctures his or her head with scissors to destroy the brain.
Bush is a true patriotic conservative. Although I disagree with his support of some spending measures, he doesn’t hold a candle to Tax-and-Spend Kerry. Kerry is so Liberal that his voting record is almost identical to that of the Archbishop of Liberals, “Teddy” Kennedy.
Unlike his predecessor, Bush is an honorable man who would never allow donors to influence his decisions. Kerry has been widely reported in even the Liberal press to have taken more money from special interest lobbyists than any US Senator in history.
Bush is a president for all the people. Kerry is using the tired old Democrat perfected by Clinton of class warfare. Everything he says attempts to pit the poor against the comfortable, blacks against whites, labor against management. Bush unites people; Kerry divides them.
President Bush is pushing for a Constitutional ban on homosexual and group marriage. The amendment will define marriage as the Bible does: a union between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN. The Massachusetts Senator (whose state just passed legislation allowing “civil unions” for homosexuals) claims he doesn’t support homosexual marriage, but does support homosexual “civil unions”. These are nothing more than marriage by another name, because they give homosexual unions the same rights as normal marriages. This is a transparent attempt to pander to the radical homosexuals, while appearing to be something other than what he really is: a rabid Leftist.
The Democrats are running scared. Bush has done a wonderful job of leading the nation though the 911 crisis, prosecuting the War on Terror and rebuilding the economy from the Clinton recession. Because they are afraid of Bush, the Democrats are making a major tactical mistake. Parties usually win the White House by running a moderate, as the Republicans did when they chose Bush in 2000. Instead, the Democrats have conducted their job search among the far left fringe of their party. The have found the Ultimate Liberal. And they will lose in November.
