CHRISTIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY & FRIENDS MOURN THE LOSS OFNICKOLAS GONZALEZ
By Joy Junction (10/22/05)
The Christian music industry this week lost one of its brightest young talents when Nickolas Gonzalez died of heart failure.
Gonzalez, 30, died on Tues. Oct. 18.
According to a news release from Morningstar PR, Gonzalez was a gifted musician and songwriter who had begun producing developing artists. He first came to the industry's attention as the guitarist for Latin and Christian superstar Jaci Velasquez (www.jacivelasquez.com).
In addition to touring with her regularly, he was a prolific songwriter who wrote hit songs in both Spanish and English--including the number one hit "In And Out" for the group Avalo, and "You Don't Miss A Thing," which was featured on an album by Velasquez.
Known for his good- natured sense of humor, the news release stated that Gonzalez had survived two nearly fatal accidents in the past several years. The only child of Linda and Robert Gonzales, founders of KSBJ (www.ksbj.org) in Houston, Gonzalez is also survived by his wife Haylie.
"He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him within the Christian music industry and beyond," the news release stated.
