Conservatives Now Realize--George Bush Is Not One Of Us!
By Dave Gibson (10/24/05)
It seems my conservative brethren have finally woken-up to the fact that the man who owes them his political life, will never repay his debt. George Bush has been a constant disappointment to true conservative Americans and much like hi latest nominee to the Supreme Court--is unfit for high office.
Failing to nominate a hard-line conservative to the high court is only the latest, though the most crushing blow dealt by Bush to his conservative base.
We have been waiting two decades to replace the turncoat O'Connor with a fire-breathing, anti-homosexual, anti-abortion, pro-gun, pro-life nominee. Bill Clinton rewarded his liberal base with chief counsel to the ACLU Ruth Bader Ginsburg, while the best we can get is a one-term Dallas City Councilwoman. We not only deserved a proven conservative nominee, but even more importantly--we deserved the fight that such a nomination would have brought about.
Our President backed-down from what would have been the most important political battle of his life. He not only let down his long-suffering supporters, but also furthered the erosion of the solid and sensible values that once made this nation great.
President Bush has never seen a need to actually secure our border, even while millions of illegal immigrants (and some terrorists) cross into this country every year. Our so-called conservative leader is consumed with romancing the Latino vote and securing cheap labor for wealthy GOP contributors.
While the President of the United States is charged with respecting the law and protecting the citizenry, Bush ignores the law and seeks to reward criminals with his proposed "guest worker program." Our president seems to be much more concerned with the livelihood of Mexican citizens than with those of his own countrymen.
Under the Bush administration, the Congress has been left unchecked and given a free hand to raid the national treasury. Aside from defense spending, Bush has allowed unspeakable debt to be incurred in the name of social welfare programs and pork projects. Incredibly, this "conservative" president is yet to veto a single bill sent before him.
Lastly, since no other conservative seems to be willing to say it, I will...Bush is lazy! I don't know any working adult who can devote two hours a day to a work-out routine. However, this current leader of the free world somehow finds the time and still gets tucked in by 10:00pm. I know that I am not the only conservative who was disgusted to see Bush embark on a five week-long vacation, the same week that 20 U.S. Marines lost their lives in Iraq. War-time presidents should not take vacations! Bush is an affront to the protestant work-ethic which built this nation.
George Bush has not only driven the conservative movement into the ground, he is taking this country to a common fate. If we are to survive, we need a nationalist leader.
I hope that all conservatives will have the courage to turn their backs on the Republican Party (which has simply become the right-wing of the American Socialist Party), and begin anew.
