'Whatever Happened to Absolute Truth?'
  Adam Graham (07/06/08)
As I continue writing about the Young Evangelical seduction, I want to point out, after receiving some e-mail, that I am, in fact, a young Evangelical in my mid-to-late 20s. Usually, age is irrelevant, but given the subject matter, I think it’s of some import.

400 members of Rainbow Family surround, attack federal officers
  OffSite (07/06/08)
National Forest Service officials, surrounded and attacked yesterday in Wyoming with sticks and stones by 400 members of the Rainbow Family, were given reason to regret their decision to cancel a long-planned national service project by the Boy Scouts of America in favor of the unorganized annual gathering of hippies, anarchists and "free spirits" who commune with nature and each other.

Dumbing Down America's Colleges
  Alan Caruba (07/06/08)
The process that began in the 1960s to transform America’s elementary, middle and high schools into places where students could literally graduate without being able to read their diploma, where the teaching of mathematics was reduced to mush without rules, and where it was more important for students to feel really good about themselves than having to measure up scholastically with millions in foreign nations, has now reached the campuses of America’s colleges and universities.

Border Security Report: State Department Must Update Planning
  Jim Kouri CPP (07/06/08)

Under the Visa Waiver Program, citizens from 27 countries can travel to the United States visa free. Terrorism concerns involving VWP country citizens have led some to suggest eliminating or suspending the program, while the executive branch is considering adding countries to it.

'What makes America different?'
  Henry Lamb (07/06/08)

There is a reason why America emerged to lead the world to new, previously unimagined heights of freedom and prosperity. It may have been an accident; it may have been providence. It is a fact, nonetheless, from which the entire world has benefited. The reason is simple, but obscured in recent years, by philosophies that reject the fundamental principle upon which America was created.

The Peoples Republik Of Kalifornia Is Doomed!
  Malcolm Hedges (07/05/08)

California has restricted everything they need to survive in the name of 'Greenism'.

The Devil You Know Or The Devil You Know
  Guest Author: J.J. Jackson (07/05/08)

Well, here are your choices in November - a devil or a devil. Maybe the choice could be made easier. After all the saying goes, "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know." Ok, well the only problem with that philosophy is that we "know" both of them.

A New Evaluation of American Institutions of Higher Learning
  Paul M. Weyrich (07/05/08)

I met Paul T. Yarbrough through my daughter, Diana, and her husband. My son-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel Craig Pascoe, was stationed at the Air Force base near Albuquerque, and in due course he and Diana became acquainted with the Yarbrough family. They found they had much in common, including their religion and politics. Yarbrough, an attorney in New Mexico, eventually became a supporter of the mission of Free Congress Research and Education Foundation (FCF). Over the years we engaged in a lively e-mail exchange.

Jerusalem's Judgement Day
  OffSite (07/05/08)

President Bush's Road Map to create a new Arab state between Jordan and Israel is in terminal tatters following the bloody events in Jerusalem on 2 July 2008 when an east Jerusalem Arab commandeered a bulldozer and went on a rampage through Jerusalem’s busy streets trying to kill as many people as he could before being killed himself.

Divisive Politics
  Tom Brewton (07/05/08)

Senator Obama's campaign is based upon a fantasy: his claimed ability to transcend politics-as-usual and thereby to unite the nation for a common purpose.

Information Reality
  Malcolm Hedges (07/04/08)

On most every turn you will find that Progressive Socialists are attempting to control yours and my access to information

1st Amendment Under Attack By the Democrats/Socialists!
  Guest Author: Longstreet (07/04/08)

First it was the 2nd Amendment, now it’s the 1st Amendment, under attack by the Democrats/Socialists! The power hungry, frightened, Democrats/Socialists cannot abide free speech. They cannot exist for very long within a system that champions free speech. It they do manage to exist, they cannot thrive because free speech is their enemy. Free speech allows the light of truth to shine, blindingly, upon their falsities, their deceptions, their untruths, and their lies.

Greens Add Food Production to Their Hit List
Guest Author: Dennis T. Avery (07/04/08)

British diesel is a self-inflicted $12 per gallon, biofuels have nearly doubled their food prices, and 40 percent of U.K electrical power will be shut down over the next six years. Now, the same Green alarmists, who warn of man-made warming while the planet cools, demand sharp reductions in Europe’s pesticide use. That will slash Europe’s crop production in half during a global food emergency.

A Weakened Pro-Family Movement
  Paul M. Weyrich (07/04/08)

Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), the only openly lesbian Member of Congress, is predicting passage of hate crimes legislation and repeal of DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) in the next Congress regardless of who is elected President. She told THE WASHINGTON BLADE, the newspaper in the Nation’s capital city appealing to homosexuals, that action on those two measures will be her top priority in 2009.

Wet Powder And Stale Promises
  David Tatosian (07/04/08)

In May 2006 Bush promised a ‘virtual fence’ that was sure to be "the most technologically advanced border security initiative in American history."

Celebrating The Second Of July
  Bruce Walker (07/04/08)

All good Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, and some good Frenchmen celebrate the Fourteenth of July (Bastille Day), but I know people who celebrated the Second of July, an independence day with a very special, personal meaning. Those born in America (or France) have a country, but what about a baby born in Bergen-Belsen who never really had a home at all, except that Displaced Persons Camp which had before that been a horrific Concentration Camp? What home did that baby have?

'Can America Survive?'
  Alan Caruba (07/04/08)

With the advent of the Fourth of July, I know the expectation is that some patriotic prose is expected. I also know there have been many previous Fourths when Americans could have legitimately asked whether the United States of America would survive.

'Can Liberty Survive When the People Choose Entertainers, Not Leaders?'
  Mary Mostert (07/04/08)

Today is supposed to be a day set aside to celebrate, and remember, the signing of the Declaration of Independence(1). What we seem to have instead is a holiday set aside for entertainment, with nary a mention nor a reading of the document it's all about.

Obama's Jimmy Carter Disaster
Guest Author: Samuel Slater Bakhtavar (07/04/08)

During the 1970's, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who had acceded to the monarchist governmental leadership role present throughout Iran's history, implemented economic, educational and social reforms. In 1978, in the midst of democratic reforms, the Shah and the Iranian people celebrated 2,500 years of Persian Monarchy. Thereafter, the Carter Administration, awkwardly wielding a contorted rhetoric of "human rights" thoughtlessly encouraged the overthrow of the Shah and thereby hastened the arrival of an exiled and obscure cleric Ayatollah Khomeini, and with him the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Democrat Presidential Hopefuls Admit They'll Try to Con Americans
Liberals Really Were Spying for the Soviets
"The official thermometers at the U.S. National Climate Data Center show a slight global cooling trend over the last seven years, from 1998 to 2005."

One Man's Life of Mission
  Thomas D. Segel (07/04/08)
Harlingen, Texas, July 3, 2004: "The bus maneuvered through narrow streets and on bumpy roads in a seemingly endless trip through pine woods and little hamlets. Finally after 45 minutes of rattling and swaying, racing downhill and creeping uphill, the bus stopped at the top of a mountain: Chiboj!"

Once Again, It's About Associations and Judgment
  Frank Salvato (07/04/08)
There has been much ado about Barack Obama’s associations and the judgment used in maintaining and entering into those associations. Obama's associations with Jeremiah Wright, Williams Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis, the Progressive-Left activist group ACORN and his ideological association with Saul Alinsky are all perfect examples of his judgment, his willingness to associate with radical and troubled individuals and organizations. Is it fair to judge Barack Obama by his associations and the judgment used in acquiring and maintaining those associations? Sorry Mr. Colmes, all is fair in love and war...and politics.

Straight Talk on Truth
  Lisa Fabrizio (07/04/08)
Two thousand years ago, a man told some local leaders; “The truth will set you free.” Now, those who have been blessed with religious faith understand exactly what He was talking about; yet these words should be universally accepted, even by those in the secular world. After all, only a few hundred years ago, some less worthy but still wise men thought that truth, or truths that were self-evident, were not only important enough to govern a freedom-loving people, but to fight and die for.

Obama and the "Image Thing"
  Miguel Guanipa (07/04/08)
At a fundamental level, elections hinge upon the most trusted intuitions voters have about their candidate’s character. In most cases these intuitions are seldom aligned with the truth, as they are loosely based on external appearances and whatever the media chooses to put on its daily feed. Nevertheless, the labeling of a candidate that gains the most currency - in other words, the one that sticks - is the one that, given enough circumstantial evidence to support its tenuous correspondence with reality, will play a significant role in determining either victory or defeat for that candidate.

'All to save our planet?'
  Guest Author: Carolyn Hileman (07/04/08)
We have heard for the umpteenth time that we need to cut energy consumption, why everyone from the movie stars to Al Gore has told us how we are just using too much electricity. All of this stems of course from the fact that president Bush did not mandate that we cut back as an attempt to cut costs for the war effort. Time recently had an article talking about how we should turn off our air conditioners because we deserve to sweat since Bush did not make us sacrifice. I must admit some of these people are really starting to make me angry since you and I both know his article was written in a high rise office with A/C on a nice computer and he dares tell us the little people we deserve to sweat. Or dear little Al who is so concerned about the earth that he upped his energy usage, but we need to cut corners somewhere so I say the TV.

Communist Party Backs Obama
  Cliff Kincaid (07/04/08)
Barack Obama's patriotic tour has run into a snag. More evidence of communist backing for the candidate has surfaced. The latest to emerge publicly in Obama’s camp is Joelle Fishman, the chairman of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) Political Action Commission. In a column titled, "Big political shifts are underway," Fishman says that Obama could lead "a landslide defeat of the Republican ultra-right" this November and that he is "ready to listen" to the "left and progressive voters" backing him. Fishman makes it clear that the CPUSA is part of this coalition.

Mixed Reviews for Legislature's Education Actions
Goldwater Institute: Dr. Matthew Ladner (07/03/08)
Tomorrow, the Goldwater Institute's daily news goes on vacation for the rest of July. Yesterday, Byron Schlomach did a wrap-up of the state's budget, where the news was relatively dim. Today I'd like to take a look at what's happened on the education front.

Christ Popular in China
  J. Grant Swank Jr. (07/03/08)
Believers pray that the risen Christ will overcome Islam’s Allah. Their belief is that the Christ who defied death and the grave will topple all His enemies, including Islam.

'So Who Listens to Brian, Katie or Charlie Anyway?'
  Jack L. Key (07/03/08)
Well, it’s not American voters, and in ever increasing numbers, it seems.

I Hope The Supremes Are Happy
  Bob Parks (07/03/08)
With yet another probable rape/murder of a young girl in Vermont, I hope the liberal members of the Supreme Court who voted to spare child rapists of the death penalty slept well last night.

Woman in the Sky: My Renewed Fascination with Amelia Earhart
  Aaron Goldstein (07/03/08)
It was 71 years ago this week, Amelia Earhart and her navigator, Frederick Noonan, took off from Lae, New Guinea for Howland Island on what was to be the penultimate leg of their flight around the world only to vanish, never to be seen or heard from again.

Manifold Dangers Of A Liberal Supreme Court
  Christopher Adamo (07/03/08)
As far back as Sun Tzu, military strategists have well understood the concept that victory in war does not require the destruction of one’s enemy, but merely convincing that enemy that destruction is inevitable if the fight continues. Similarly, in a dictatorship, absolute control is neither necessary nor, in most cases, even possible. All that is needed for the dictator to endure is the presumption among the underlings that the leader does indeed hold a monopoly of power.

'Which Has More Islamist Terrorism, Europe or America?'
  Daniel Pipes (07/03/08)
"Since 9/11, there have been over 2,300 arrests connected to Islamist terrorism in Europe in contrast to about 60 in the United States." Thus writes Marc Sageman in his influential new book, Leaderless Jihad: Terror Networks in the Twenty-First Century (University of Pennsylvania Press).

Editorial: Comrade Obama Get Real
  Editor (07/02/08)
Comrade US Commissar wannabe Senator Obama, how can any real American be expected to swallow your Socialist dream?

Progressive Democrats Obviously Think They Live In Another Country
  Malcolm Hedges (07/02/08)
It seems the attitude pretty much goes from top to bottom.

Legislator: Law allows banishment of Bible
  OffSite (07/02/08)
A lawmaker in Colorado who challenged the authors of SB200, a new law that bans discrimination based on the "perception" of gender, during House debate says it was written to give a wide open door to anyone who wants to banish Christian beliefs or the Bible.

'A 'Silence of Feminists' Over Michelle Obama?'
  Warner Todd Huston (07/02/08)
Mary C. Curtis is in high dudgeon. She is all twisted up inside over the seeming lack of support that feminists have for Michelle Obama. She has decided to scold all those recalcitrant feminists, too. Yes, she's all upset over this thing wondering, "Where are Obama's feminist defenders?" Curtis is even moaning that black women are second-class citizens, even with feminists. She is all in righteous indignation about the "The Loud Silence Of Feminists(1)."

The Seduction of Young Evangelicals
  Adam Graham (07/02/08)
Young Evangelicals are considered to be a key swing vote in this upcoming election. I’d suggest the issue of Young Evangelicals is far more important than this upcoming election. How they ultimately go but could determine the fate of our nation.

'Tabula Rasa for One?'
  Thomas Lindaman (07/02/08)
Barack the blank slate - A friend of mine and I were chatting the other day about the upcoming election and who we thought would win. My friend, who is so Republican she makes Ronald Reagan look like Jerry Brown, lamented over the possibility of Barack Obama becoming President, saying simply, “The fix is in.” If you look at the media coverage surrounding the junior Senator from Illinois, you’d probably get the same impression. The media have fawned over Obama like a teenage girl crushing over the Jonas Brothers. If things get any worse on that front, Obama might have to register with the IRS as a tax-exempt church.

WANTED: An Honest Journalist That Will Investigate B. Hussein Obama
  John A. Ross (07/02/08)
The reoccurring theme, or words that best defines B. Hussein Obama is: Corrupt Socialist, or Communist. Having the most liberal, or socialist voting record in the U.S. Senate the junior senator has, despite what he may profess, defined himself through his actions and relationships as being a corrupt socialist, or communist apparatchik. The list of common denominators pointing to this supposition better accounts for Senator Obama’s previous actions and recent unguarded statements. The jester list supporting this contention includes his parents, “Uncle Frank,” Saul Alinsky, the Ayers, Tony Rezko and, more importantly, Nadhmi Auchi, his election staff and, of course, his actual voting record.

'Marxists/Socialists/Communists for Obama?'
  JB Williams (07/02/08)
Obama’s useful idiot minions [1] on college campuses across America may have no clue what types of change Obama has in store for America. But every Marxist, Socialist and Communist around the globe, knows all too well…

Words have Meaning
  Geoff Metcalf (07/02/08)
"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". - Gosh-Oh-Gee-Golly, despite the itching and moaning, whining and crying over parsing semantics, the Supreme Court of the United States has FINALLY ruled that the Second Amendment actually DOES mean what it says, "...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Progressives Hate Energy
  Malcolm Hedges (07/01/08)
As each day goes by every effort to give the US energy is fought tooth and nail by Progressives. We like this, but.. Or we like that, but...

The Mexican Military Regularly Enters This Country On Behalf of Drug Dealers...White House Silent
  Dave Gibson (07/01/08)
This past January, the Department of Homeland Security reported that since 1996, there had been 278 known incursions by the Mexican military into the United States. They are often seen providing armed escort to drug smugglers. Incredibly, the Mexican military now enters our nation at will, with no response from President Bush.

The Supreme Court versus Women and Children
  Bruce Walker (07/01/08)
On June 25, the Supreme Court issued two opinions that helped obviously guilty men who committed heinous acts of violence against women and children. These two decisions are not so much unconstitutional, as was the June 13 decision to allow enemy combatants outside America to have access to federal courts, as the two decisions were lame legal reasoning and profound general silliness.
