Editorial: Socialism Gone Wild!
  Editor (07/24/08)
The Progressive Socialist Democrats think they are on a roll.

A Country Without Affordable and Plentiful Energy Is Economically Crippled
  Malcolm Hedges (07/24/08)
The Demercrats and Greens know this and this is why they are doing their best to strangle energy resources and inflate energy prices in the US.

A Word To The Wise...
  John A. Ross (07/24/08)
Prior to November 4th, 2008, all eligible voters need to determine if their federal representative, senators and presidential candidate support energy independence from foreign oil. Should your federal representative cling to, or waffle on the need for ending the influence foreign countries that hate America vote for someone that does, regardless of party affiliation. The United States of America faces internal and external enemies that fear and hate our freedoms and are plotting to eliminate our ability to influence the world and militarily protect all Americans and our friends.

The Gaping Ignorance of Democrat Leaders
  Bruce Walker (07/24/08)

Barack Obama has made a serious of statements recently which show an appalling ignorance of history and the world. He recently spoke about “the bomb” being dropped on Pearl Harbor. Before that, in May, Obama talked about the Iraq war sucking up Arabic translators need in Afghanistan (which is a non-Arabic nation in which the people speak languages from a completely different language family.) A few days earlier, Barack spoke of the “57 states.” One might allow him some credit if he had intended to include all the different jurisdictions that send delegates to the Democrat Convention – although Obama still would have been woefully wrong – but even when you count American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia, the total is 55, not 57. Obama seems ignorant of history and unable to do basic arithmetic. Before that Barack Obama did not know at all about the historical impact upon revenue of raising the tax rate on capital gains (which always lowers tax revenues) and lowering the tax rate on capital gains (which always raises tax revenue.) These statements by Obama do not reflect dishonesty. He has, to be sure, lied to the American people about his knowledge of Jeremiah Wright’s hatefulness. Nor is Obama trying to “spin” something with these statements. He simply does not know very much.

ADVISORY: Political Storm Obama
  Doug Edelman (07/24/08)

Disclaimer: This piece is political humor and parody. (I don’t want any misunderstandings like the New Yorker recently experienced!) - Dateline: July 2008 - The National Climate Agency has been tracking a new political storm which is rapidly becoming so powerful it threatens to change the landscape of the entire nation! Political Storm Obama is predicted by some to make landfall in November, triggering potential landslides. Some are calling this a history maker.

The "Fairness" Doctrine: America In The Balance
  Christopher Adamo (07/24/08)

Lurking in the gloom of the Democrat agenda is a resuscitation of the so-called “Fairness Doctrine,” which would allow the federal government, at the behest of liberal special interests, to selectively harass and intimidate radio stations whose broadcasting format it finds objectionable. Thus, the proliferation of conservative talk-radio and virtually all of the alternative media would be threatened with eventual extinction.

'Sports Heroes?'
  Lisa Fabrizio (07/24/08)

Every Sunday night I go out to my favorite club to engage in lively conversation and enjoy some adult companionship. In the summertime, this often includes taking in ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. This Sunday however, the Red Sox-Angels game was scheduled two hours earlier than the usual 8:00 PM start so that the network could air its annual ESPY Awards show in prime time.

Mexico's Version of La Cosa Nostra Spreads Like a Virus
  Jim Kouri CPP (07/23/08)

The Castorena Family Organization is a large-scale criminal organization with more than 100 key members who oversee cells of 10 to 20 individuals in cities across the United States, according to public court documents filed by the US government in Colorado and in other judicial districts around the country.

Senate Vote on More Money for U.N.
  Cliff Kincaid (07/23/08)

Having failed to stop the irresponsible $50 billion global AIDS bill, Senate conservatives are now being given a second chance. Can they stand up to Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and block the so-called Coburn Omnibus of more irresponsible spending? Reid jokingly named the bill after the Oklahoma Republican Senator, Tom Coburn, who has prevented dozens of excessive federal spending bills from passing the Senate. But Reid is actually titling the bill “Advancing America’s Priorities.”

These are the Torturing, Maniacs Obama Thinks he can Befriend
  Warner Todd Huston (07/23/08)

In 1999 a handsome, earnest young man named Ahmad Batebi(1) defied Ayatollah Khamenei in Iran. His photo caused an instant sensation and became a symbol of the flower of Iran standing ready to oppose the oppression of the Iranian religious regime

Fred Phelps: The Father of the New Liberal Tactics
  Adam Graham (07/23/08)

There are few people who are as universally loathed as Fred Phelps. I think it wouldn’t be understatement to say that more Americans sympathize with Osama bin Laden than approve of the tactics of the renegade Kansas minister.

Parson Moyers's Prevarication
  Tom Brewton (07/23/08)

Bill Moyers's PBS presentation on Cleveland's real estate foreclosure problem was a product, either of economic ignorance, or of deliberate distortion for political purposes.

Water Boarding Does NOT Fit the Definition of Torture
  Kevin Roeten (07/23/08)

Do you worry about “water boarding”? Have we decided the Army Field Manual (AFM) will dictate American morals and change the definition of torture? Thorndike-Barnhart defines torture as “The act of inflicting very severe pain; a very severe pain or suffering--agony.” It seems the word torture is used frequently by those opposed to Bush, or his techniques to eliminate more American deaths.

Train Yourself To Discern Good From Evil
  Guest Author: Marsha West (07/23/08)

“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” -- Hebrews 5:14”

The Cold Hard Facts About Lobbying Washington, DC
  JB Williams (07/23/08)

The very first fact every American must reconcile with is the fact that “lobbying” elected representatives, like other forms of prostitution, is as old as the constitutional republic itself.

Media Shuts Out McCain
  Sher Zieve (07/23/08)

In yet another blatant attempt to render the Republican presidential candidate impotent, therefore propping up their secular messiah Barack Obama, the New York Times has rejected an Op-Ed by presidential contender John McCain. Instead, this “news” paper has reportedly told McCain that his Op-Ed needs to be more like Obama’s - which was accepted (surprise - surprise!”) by the Times. In case there are a few individuals who’ve been living in a cave for the last year or so - Obama is for an immediate pull-out of US troops from Iraq and McCain is not. Obama believes the pull-out should occur based upon his ideology and McCain believes any pull-out should occur based upon what’s actually transpiring in the region. Brian Rogers, a McCain spokesman, said of the Times’ rejection that it “reveals where they're coming from” and that McCain’s position “will not change based on politics or the demands of The New York Times.”

Someone Needs To Stop The Iranian IslamoFascist Machine
  Malcolm Hedges (07/23/08)

Israel is the most obvious target of Iran, next comes the Middle East in general with Europe a not very distant third.

District gives students exam answers, half still flunk
  OffSite (07/22/08)

The school district of Rochester, N.Y., gave teachers and students exact copies of the questions and answers that would appear on a mandatory test, only to have officials deny wrongdoing and watch half the students fail anyway.

The myth of a teacher shortage
  Ari Kaufman (07/22/08)

Too many credentialed dinosaurs are holding jobs - For three years in these columns, I have implored teachers to recognize what excellent jobs they have and to cease complaining. Well, here is an issue I believe teachers can rightfully remonstrate about.

Democrat Presidential Hopefuls Admit They'll Try to Con Americans
Liberals Really Were Spying for the Soviets
"The official thermometers at the U.S. National Climate Data Center show a slight global cooling trend over the last seven years, from 1998 to 2005."

Government to Blame for Housing and Financial Crisis
Ayn Rand Institute: Yaron Brook (07/22/08)
Irvine, CA--In "The Government Did It," an opinion piece published last Friday on Forbes.com, Dr. Yaron Brook, president and executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, argued that our government's massive control over the housing and financial markets has led to many of the problems being blamed on the free market today.

Congressional Democrats Say NO to Drilling but YES to More Oil Taxes
  Sher Zieve (07/22/08)
In another move geared to even faster destroy the ability of the American people to support themselves, Congressional Democrats have decided the price of a gallon of gas just isn’t high enough to really hurt us. So, Democrats have decided to raise yours and my gasoline taxes by $.10/gallon. Instead of even thinking about bringing the price of gasoline down - by allowing us to drill for additional petroleum reserves in our own country (in those places that oil actually exists) as well as 100-200 miles off shore - it has decided to raise the price from its already all-time high! Rep. James Oberstar (D-MN), Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, said: “We'll put all things on the table but, the gas tax is the cornerstone. Nothing else will work without the underpinning of the higher user fee gas tax.” Hmmm. Note: It appears that Mr. Oberstar’s “all things on the table” does not include the thing that would actually bring gasoline prices down and increase the US domestic supply. That would be drilling for oil in our own country and, thus, would greatly reduce our need for foreign oil. Does any sort of logic register with these clowns anymore?

A Persistent Threat To Second Amendment Rights
  Paul M. Weyrich (07/22/08)
In District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court ruled that the District of Columbia’s highly restrictive ban on guns is unconstitutional. The ruling was anticipated across the nation. It was the first time the Court made a direct judgment about the right of individuals to keep and bear arms since the adoption of the Second Amendment to the Constitution. One would think that under these circumstances the D.C. government would get the message. Not a chance. The Washington D.C. City Council lives in its own world.

Judge-mentally Impaired Should Get Off Michael Savage's Back
  Selwyn Duke (07/22/08)
It seems as if taking offense is the recreation of choice in modern America. The latest example (of which I'm aware; I’m sure our UPS {umbrage per second} statistic is sky high) has resulted in a planned protest at WOR Radio in Manhattan over some comments radio talk show host Michael Savage made concerning autism. Or, to be precise, the commentary involved not that condition but behavior that might be misdiagnosed as autism.

'Will Obama's European Tour Backfire on Him?'
  Guest Author: J.D. Longstreet (07/22/08)
There is a very good chance that the Obama's European tour will backfire on his campaign here in the states.

US Government no Longer Values Citizenship
  Frosty Wooldridge (07/22/08)
Citizenship constitutes the foundation of the United States of America. Thomas Jefferson wrote, "We the people, in order to form a more perfect union...."

Fathers: Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Britney
  Guest Author: Doug Giles (07/22/08)
Father, have you been to the mall lately and watched an unsupervised group of teenage girls get hit on by the ubiquitous male oxygen thieves? Pretty disturbing, eh? What's even more mind numbing is the number of beautiful young ladies who actually give these scat based boys the time of day. Unreal.

Change? Looks Like More of the Same
  Guest Author: Chip McLean (07/22/08)
I haven’t checked to see if their sales are up, but the makers of Dramamine should be experiencing record profits this campaign season. Why, you ask? Simple - the word “change” has been thrown around so much in recent months that it undoubtedly is causing many to buy massive quantities of the anti-nausea medicine.

'What Is Our Government Hiding In The Prosecution of Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean?'
  Dave Gibson (07/22/08)
The government watchdog group known as Judicial Watch recently filed a lawsuit against the U.S. State Department, for that agency’s failure to turn over certain documents related to the prosecution of Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean.

Moms, Don't Take Your Kids to an Abuse Shelter
  Carey Roberts (07/22/08)
Abuse shelters are the domestic violence industry’s Holy of Holies. Their ministrations are shrouded in mystery, the High Priestesses unnamed, their locations often kept secret. There abused women can become purified of the patriarchal demon and begin life anew.

A Few Days On Cat Island
  Jack L. Key (07/22/08)
It’s been some time since I had a little vacation, and I needed a break from writing about politics for awhile, so I decided to slip away last week for a few days down to the Bahamas.

We are Americans
  Guest Author: Carolyn Hileman (07/21/08)
Do you remember how you felt on 9/11? The feeling of dread, the feeling of there was really nothing you could do? The feeling of anger that you couldn’t even tell your kids everything would be OK and know it was true? I am willing to bet that a lot of you are feeling those same things today. You are feeing battered, beaten down, worn out, you wonder how you will pay your bills, how you will buy your groceries and gas and you are just plain tired. It is a different kind of apprehension but apprehension all the same, you feel like your country and you are under attack all over again and you are not really sure what putting out your flag will do for you now.

The sky is falling on Gore again
  Henry Lamb (07/21/08)
Al Gore has certainly secured his place in history. His Academy-Award-Pulitzer-Prize-winning prediction that climate change will raise sea levels by 20 feet will be studied by future history students, along with the predictions of Malthus and Paul Ehrlich.

The Rules for Democrats and Republicans
  Doug Patton (07/21/08)
During his days doing stand-up in the 1960s, Bill Cosby recorded a track for one of his comedy albums about the American Revolution. As only Cosby could tell it, he spun a hilarious version of “the rules” for how the war for American independence was to be fought. The British, Cosby said, had to wear red and march in slow, straight lines, making them targets for the colonists, who were allowed to wear drab clothing that blended into the landscape and who could hide behind hills, trees and rocks as they took aim. It is a bit like this year’s presidential race, with Republicans playing by the British rules and Democrats in the role of the colonists.

President Bush and the Fat Lady!
  Guest Author: Don Boys (07/21/08)
The fat lady was standing in the wings ready to sing while President Bush was speaking on July 15 to the American people attempting to assure them that the economy is sound and hoping they will not storm the banks to get their money. He was using his “bully pulpit” to cower us into submission. You will note that he will not use that “pulpit” on behalf of traditional marriage, immigration, protecting the unborn and other “hot” issues that a “compassionate conservative” should espouse.

Leaders Leaders
  Geoff Metcalf (07/21/08)
“Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys”. – P.J. O'Rourke

'Will Washington Betray Anti-Regime Iranians?'
  Daniel Pipes (07/21/08)
As the United Nations mandate that legitimizes the presence of U.S forces in Iraq expires on December 31, 2008, a humanitarian and strategic disaster is coming into view. The fate of about 3,500 anti-regime Iranians will be decided in the course of status-of-forces negotiations between Washington and Baghdad.

Muslims Complaining About Public Mentions Of IslamoFacist Terrorism
  Malcolm Hedges (07/20/08)
Yet another flap has started because of a statement made by a McCain supporter.

Are Americans Smarter than they Look? ...Understanding Voters...
  JB Williams (07/20/08)
Understanding American voter sentiments heading into the 2008 Election cycle is no easy task. Voters seem to be all over the board on how they feel about the issues, the candidates, and what they think we should do about each issue is even stranger.

'Who Needs NATO?'
  Alan Caruba (07/20/08)
What I know about NATO, the North American Treaty Organization, you could put in a bug’s ear. Well, that’s not quite true. I do know the treaty was signed April 4, 1949. It was the result of Cold War fears that the Soviet Union represented a military threat to Europe.

Socialism is still a dirty word
  Henry Lamb (07/20/08)
In the 1950s, the word “socialism” was as vulgar as the four-letter words, which, when uttered by a youngster, could result in a mouthful of soap. Not so today. Perhaps contemporary acceptance of the term is the result of tolerance lessons, or political correctness that permeates progressive thought today. It could be ignorance; schools no longer teach the flaws of socialism. Or, what’s even worse, today’s acceptance of the term is more likely to be acceptance of the system.

'Gas Prices Cause Louisiana Women to Resort to 'Pole Dancing'?'
  Warner Todd Huston (07/20/08)
WAFB TV Channel 9, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana pulled out all the stops for this ridiculous report claiming that "some women" in the Pelican State are resorting to working in strip clubs(1) because gasoline is so expensive. To prove it, WAFB found one woman that said so. I'd say that clinches this as "fact," then, wouldn't you?

Global Warming Challenged by New Data and Failed Predictions
  Mary Mostert (07/20/08)
The American Physical Society (APS), representing over 50,000 physicists, has re-opened the discussion of the issue of global warming. In 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that more than half of the "Global warming" of the past 50 years (IPCC, 2007) had been caused by CO2 emissions from humans and that human activity would cause further rapid warming . That conclusion is now being challenged by new data and the failure of old data to predict what has actually happened to the climate since 2001.

Why McCain Must Win
  Bruce Walker (07/20/08)
President McCain in 2000 - I must be one of the few conservative writers in cyberspace who never feared a McCain presidency. When Senator McCain looked like he might win the Republican nomination in 2000, I asked what, exactly, my friends were so worried about. McCain was honest, like Bush, while Clinton and Gore were steeped in moral slipperiness. McCain was pro-life, like Bush, while Clinton and Gore were pro-abortion. McCain, like Bush, supported a strong military, while Clinton famously “loathed” the military and Gore followed him like a trained poodle. McCain’s ACU (American Conservative Union) voting record is conservative and was even more conservative in 2000. Who did I favor for the nomination in 2000? Bush, because I liked him more and I thought he would win, but was I afraid of a McCain presidency? No, I was afraid that the nation could not survive a third Clinton term.
