'Uh... What Happened to the "Bailout"?'
Guest Author: J. D. Longstreet (10/07/08)
Well... what happened? Pelosi, Frank, Reid, and yes, McCain, Bush, and let us not forget, Obama and that crowd of old hippies in Congress... aw, you know... the experts on finance, the folks who want to nationalize the nations financial markets... YEAH, that bunch... assured us the nation and the world had been saved by the 700 billion, no, wait, that's 800 billion, no, wait, it's 850 billion... and climbing "rescue". Remember. Well, it was SO long ago. Why, that was way back last ... week... last Friday to be exact.
Known by the Company We Keep? – No, says Obama, It's the Economy Stupid
Michael Bresciani (10/07/08)
Obama says the McCain campaign is pointing to the wrong issue by bringing up his association with, racists, haters and domestic bombers. It’s the economy says Barack! Is he asking Americans to suspend the time tested wisdom that we teach our children even to this day, namely that we are known by the company we keep? Apparently he is!
'Newsweek: Obama Just like Lincoln?'
Warner Todd Huston (10/07/08)
Howard Fineman has no knowledge of history. In fact, it would not surprise me if we should find out some day that, in his original draft of this absurd comparison of Lincoln to Obama(1), he even spelled Lincoln's name wrong. It is just that obvious that Fineman knows nothing of what he speaks. You see, Howard Fineman has decided that Barack Obama is somehow just like Abraham Lincoln. This is hero worship at its worst without being weighed down by any facts. It's so bad that one wonders if Fineman had a Matthewsian "thrill up his leg" when writing this sycophantic slop?
Something is Very Wrong Here
Guest Author: Roxanna Moser (10/07/08)
A recent column by Investors Business Daily said that 94% of mortgages are being paid on time, leaving only 6% that are either already in foreclosure or headed that way. This is not the first time I've heard this number, nor is IBD the only place I've heard it.
'What Part Of "Shall Not Be Infringed" Don't You Understand, Senator?'
Frederick Meekins (10/07/08)
In her brief time in the national spotlight, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, if nothing else, has rejuvenated the debate in this country regarding certain fundamental values. Interestingly, not all of this stems directly from the candidate's spoken statements but rather from a number of comments made about her by her Democratic counterpart Senator Joseph Biden.
Democrats Destroy Economy - Blame Republicans
Sher Zieve (10/07/08)
The actual facts of why the US - and now the world - economy are in severe jeopardy have little to nothing to do with the current US administration or Republicans. However, with the Democrats’ and their media continuing to call and report the Republicans responsible, the public might never know the difference. Despite all proof to the contrary, the media - AKA the usual suspects - refuse to report on the actual programs that led to the current debacle. This is called "faked and manufactured news."
'Say it Ain't So, O': Say You Don't Believe Your Country is Fundamentally Flawed
Guest Author: Monte E. Kuligowski (10/07/08)
Sarah Palin is being attacked for “attacking Barack Obama’s character,” because she dares to inform millions of uninformed voters of Obama’s association with the unrepentant anti-American terrorist, William Ayers.

The Democratic Credit Crisis
Ted Baiamonte Comments: bje1000@aol.com (10/06/08)
Quite simply, the current credit crisis was caused by Democratic interference with the free market. In fact, Democrats hate the free market out of an interest in buying votes from those who don't profit as much or as easily as they'd like to from it. Accordingly, The Federal Reserve, Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac, The Community Reinvestment Act, and FHA, among many others, all exist to interfere in a huge way with the free market in order to make home buying easier for those whom the free market deems unqualified because of their actuarial inability to pay back their home loans.
The Ethanol Election Issue
Alan Caruba (10/06/08)
The issue of the nation’s financial and economic security is likely to dominate the November 4 election. Earlier in the campaign cycle we might have assumed that foreign affairs and energy would be uppermost on the minds of voters, but we’re told that, ultimately, voters vote their pocketbooks.
Charlie Gibson: 'It's Important to Expose' Sarah Palin
Warner Todd Huston (10/06/08)
So, instead of merely reporting the news, now reporters 'are' the news? Apparently Charlie Gibson thinks he is, anyway. He gave an interview to the Toledo Blade on October 5(1) as if 'his' opinions of the race for the White House are somehow more important than the news of the candidates. You remember the candidates, don't you Chuck? You know, those guys who are 'actually' going to be elected, the ones that you are supposed to be reporting on?
Barack Obama's Cop-Killer Supporters
Jim Kouri CPP (10/06/08)
While Barack Obama's friends and supporters in the news media downplay his friendship and business relationship with former terrorist and Marxist university professor Willam Ayers, one aspect of the Ayers terrorism saga that's totally ignored is his reputation as a cop-killer.
'First Presidential Election Decided by Voter Fraud?'
Sher Zieve (10/06/08)
Will 2008 finally be the first US presidential race to be decided by voter fraud and the leftist mainstream press? It appears that it just may be. The press has been nonstop in its glorification of Democrat Obama, vilification of McCain and barbs, false rumors and jokes waged against Sarah Palin. Prior to Obama beginning his campaign for POTUS, cable channel MSNBC had already announced its intention to go ‘all leftist all of the time’. NBC has aired multiple positive “documentaries” about Barack Obama while discounting John McCain. Obama’s group ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is under suspicion or indictment of its members in at least 14 states.
'Editorial: Do Most Voters Have A Clue What A Liberal Is?'
Editor (10/05/08)
No! Most voters don't know what a politician is, let alone a Liberal! American voters (except the most stupid) understand (or at least comprehend) Communism and Socialism

To The Pain!
Guest Author: J.J. Jackson (10/05/08)
In the movie "The Princess Bride", our hero, Wesley, is feeble after recovering from a state of being "mostly dead". What was it that saved him from death? "True love" saved him; his love for Princess Buttercup and a refusal to let go of that love. This love was so pure and so true that while he was on death's door it would not let him slip from the world. Several scenes later he is lying on a bed and quipping about a shortage of perfect breasts as his true love refrains from killing herself only at the sight of the man she thought she would never see again.
Obama: His Ambition Has Outrun His Ability!
Guest Author: Don Boys (10/05/08)
Face it; if another candidate as inexperienced as Obama suggested that he was considering a run for the U.S. presidency, he would be laughed off the stage. Why is Obama the exception? Why are not Americans rolling in hilarious laughter at his presumption? It is not because he is a Democrat or radical liberal or part of the corrupt Chicago political machine. It is because he is black; however, color (or race or religion) is not a qualification or disqualification for any office.
Message to McCain: Strap up - You're at War!
JB Williams (10/05/08)
Those of us who follow American politics closely, knew some time ago that the 2008 election cycle was going to be an all out culture war between Americans who have been trained to see the elitist central power in Washington DC as the socialist solution to every problem, and those who know that the secular socialists running Washington DC today, are the problem.
'Will McCain Actually Run For President?'
Malcolm Hedges (10/04/08)
As of this date McCain is NOT seriously running for President? Maybe he has a grand last minute blast in mind, nobody knows.
VP Debate Leaves Questions Unanswered - Palin Still Shines
Michael Bresciani (10/04/08)
Squaring off with Delaware Senator Joseph Biden, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin shined and proved once again that she is the best choice for the GOP in today’s climate of woefulness about the outgoing administrations legacy.
How Not to Defend Free Markets
Ayn Rand Institute: Yaron Brook (10/04/08)
Washington, D.C.--In response to the financial crisis, traditional defenders of free markets have criticized certain controls passed by U.S. regulatory agencies, but are not calling into question the legitimacy of the agencies themselves. But, argued Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights, “It is insufficient and indeed counterproductive to criticize a few failed policies of the Fed and the SEC, without challenging the existence of these market-dictating agencies in the first place.
A Few Good Reasons to Vote November the 4th
John A. Ross (10/04/08)
The Obama-Biden team promises everybody everything that will get them elected. On the other hand, “the mavericks,” the McCain-Palin team, promises to “Drill-Baby-Drill and throw the Fanny-May and Freddie-Mac crooks in jail.” Applying the KISS Principle (Keep It Simple Stupid), most Americans understand that we must become energy independent, otherwise the $700-Billion dollars a year we send to our enemies for gasoline will continue to be used against all of us.
Can You Hear Us Now? (We Said NO!)
Doug Edelman (10/04/08)
The Paulson Bailout, proposed at $700 Billion, has now grown in the Senate to $850 Billion with the addition of absolutely ridiculous “sweeteners” like free bicycles and tax breaks to wooden arrow makers! The Senate has completely lost its way.
States NOT in play
Ari Kaufman (10/04/08)
We like to think our political choices are rational responses to issues of today. The numbers suggest otherwise." - Michael Barone, August 2008. It is indeed wishful thinking on both sides, and superfluous fodder for the media, to believe more than seven states will ultimately decide the 2008 election.
Bailed-Out Executives Already Living It Up On Your Dime
Dave Gibson (10/04/08)
A little over a week after the American taxpayers were forced to give AIG an $85 billion bailout, AIG executives attended a lavish retreat at one of the nation’s most luxurious and expensive resorts.
Palin Parachutes Into Palestine - Biden Bides His Time
OffSite (10/04/08)
The Vice Presidential debate between Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden was as memorable for the statements made by both of them on the future progress of President Bush's Roadmap as was the absence of any comment at all on the same issue by either Barack Obama or John McCain in their first Presidential debate the previous week.
Demonic Mendacity of the Organized Left
Linda Kimball (10/04/08)
In recent times, America has been experiencing an explosion of neo-pagan movements in concert with a relentless assault on truth, reality, first principles, universal moral law, and the created order of being---the two sexes (male and female) for example. These movements interface with mystical, quasi-Buddhist, occult Gnostic, and other ‘blood and soil’ notions: New Age cults, transcendental meditation, Wicca, goddess worship, ‘gay’ shamanism, reincarnation, Luciferian Theosophy, the Great Apes Project and all other animal rights agendas, Gaia worship, deep ecology, channeling and other such notions. All are types of pantheism, which stress in one way or another that mankind is ‘one with’ nature (or the cosmos or dialectical matter) and should therefore make obeisance to it as Sovereign.

It's well documented that Demercrat Progressive Socialists are a minority in the USA. Democrats have a fair following.
'We Have The $850,000,000,000 Sellout Bill - So Now What To Do?'
Malcolm Hedges (10/03/08)
With a lot of serious complaining and a little luck maybe just $250,000,000.000 will actually be expended. And a significant portion of that amount could be recouped by non-bureaucrat management of the project.
Rolling Stone: McCain a 'Mean Little Fu_ _er,' That Puts Own 'Advancement Above All Else'
Warner Todd Huston (10/03/08)
The Rolling Stone has a long attack piece on John McCain(1) in its October issue that really rakes the GOP presidential candidate over the coals. The piece indulges in quite a lot of name-calling and dismisses his patriotism, bravery, and integrity in nearly every paragraph. It's quite a vicious attack piece, really.
Falling World Population Much Bigger Than Any Crisis
Kevin Roeten (10/03/08)
The plethora of bank failure crises is dwarfed by the oncoming “under-population” warning. But nobody sees “under-population” coming. Already 59 nations (44% world population) are experiencing below-replacement birthrates. Just 2.1 births per couple equal exact replacement. Tendencies dictate the world will shortly be under that rate.
It's All Coming Down to a Few Key States...

The Congressional Sellout To Socialism
Malcolm Hedges (10/02/08)
The Congressional elitists have demonstrated that they have no concept of economics or social economics. If they manage to push thru this massive boondoggle the USA will no longer have a viable economic structure.
Boston Globe Leads With a Lie -- Debunked Palin Rape Kit Story Again
Warner Todd Huston (10/02/08)
I would urge someone close to members of the editorial board of the Boston Globe to let them know that the world is not flat, the moon is not made of green cheese, and Elvis is, indeed, dead. I say this because obviously the Boston Globe is way behind the times in discovering facts that debunk rumors and it's clear they have no capacity to do any research. I mean, they must not be paying attention to reality because in today's editorial(1), the Globe again raises the thoroughly debunked claim that Sarah Palin charged rape victims for their rape kits when she was mayor of Wasilla. The claim is a straight out lie that has been demolished by many writers (including myself(2)), yet the Globe obviously took no efforts to research the facts before they revealed their incompetence to the world.
Titanic
Edward Daley (10/02/08)
I was reading an op-ed the other day in which the author (who's name was not attached to it) wrote that getting rid of corporate taxes as a means of helping to shore up our economy was a bad idea because some 25 percent of all income taxes are paid by corporations. He (or she) went on to state that it'll be the average American worker who has to make up the difference if we stop taxing corporations, but what the author didn't point out was that the average American, by and large, already pays the taxes our government levies on corporations. How can that be? Because the people who work for corporations, own stock in them, and purchase their goods and services are mostly average citizens. Remove from the equation the upper managerial staff of just about any a large, publicly traded company, and what you have left are mostly middle class employees and stock holders who bear the brunt of the corporation's tax burden through lower wages, less benefits and smaller stock dividends than they would otherwise be afforded. After them, it's the consumers who finish paying the government's bill when they patronize that corporation.
