Appearing on Fox News this morning with Megan Kelly, former LT. Governor of Maryland Michael Steele advised that he has viewed emails from Democrat operatives - possibly affiliated with the Obama campaign - stating that, until she resigns, they will continue a non-stop smear campaign against Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin. It would appear that Obama either cannot or is not inclined to reel in his radicals. The latest, reported yesterday and confirmed by FNC this morning, is that leftist Democrats have released Palin’s Social Security number to the public. And their leftist alphabet network media continue the attempt to disembowel Palin with their own non-stop attacks against Palin and her family. In my lifetime, I have never seen such a blatantly anti-female campaign - and this from the party that claims “tolerance.”

Imagine the effrontery of this demand? Imagine the ignorance and outrageousness of this attack that Governor Palin is receiving at the hands of the Old Media? Worse, realize that this storm has been raised by gutter websites like DailyKos and the DemocraticUnderground! The media is not only indulging in the lowest of attacks they are allowing the most extreme, unhinged of the far left to dictate the direction of their coverage. The Old Media are worse than dancing puppets for the hatemongers on the left.

Zogby International reported that since he announced Sarah Palin as his V.P. running mate, John McCain is now leading Barack Obama 47% to 45%. A previous Gallup poll taken before the announcement had Obama leading McCain 49% to 41%. Note: This polling data appeared in a Wikipedia article early on Sunday, August 31. Many Americans have a negative image of journalists and it is one that is growing in believability and acceptance every day, especially as the New Media begins to attract more and more attention from the American people. This image of the aloof, even anti-American, journalist is becoming rote with more people all the time. Sadly, the journalists themselves seem to be uninterested in countering this appalling public image, imagining themselves above being considered mere Americans. On this subject, a recent op ed by Mark Fitzgerald of Editor & Publisher(1) warns journalists that perception is often truth and that the penchant that journalists have for not standing proudly and patriotically during the National Anthem does not help their image any -- good advice that will be roundly ignored by journalists the country over.

Did anyone else watch FNC’s Fox and Friends Saturday? Did you hear what I heard? Was I temporarily in some alternate universe? Were any of you as shocked as I was over Alyson Camarata’s almost non-stop belittling of Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK)? Ms. Camarata droned on and on asking questions about Palin’s experience and over and over again mocked her by saying ‘she used to hunt before she went to school’ and ’she used to hunt moose and caribou before she went to school’. At Saturday’s program end, two pretty obviously leftist blogger guests were interviewed (one of whom said her mother had “dated Joe Biden”) when one of the bloggers said that Palin now had the “sympathy vote” because she was raising a Down’s syndrome child. The bloggers, Camarata and her co-host then proceeded to laugh at this comment! In my opinion this was pretty ugly and went way beyond the pale of television commentary. Note: The laughter very plainly and succinctly indicated agreement with the Down’s syndrome comment. This was an unconscionable performance.

Some how, the Old Media has missed the good news on Iraq. On August 27, the Rasmussen polling organization published a poll(1) that showed American confidence is at its highest level ever in support of the War on Terror since they've begun tracking in January of 2004. This poll got little notice by the Old Media, of course, but it illustrates an issue that McCain should exploit to his benefit -- especially after Obama's acceptance speech.

This is true especially now as many on the left are getting antsy with Barack Obama and his backtracking on some issues, refining his position on others and a perceived move to the middle on even more. But do not worry Barack Obama supporters, he has avowed and reaffirmed that he is a staunch liberal "progressive" just to ease your sensitive minds. He will maintain and even expand the Nanny State to help you cope with the trials in life you are incapable of dealing with. So when you see him talking about things like continuing President Bush’s faith based initiatives and refining his position on Iraq, fear not.

In New York, U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ordered the release of eight more grand jury transcripts from the famous 1951 spy case that led to the conviction of the husband and wife pro-Soviet spy team of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Reuters reports this story(1) as if there is some cloud of doubt still hanging over the Rosenberg's conviction despite that their guilt is no longer debatable. Yet here is Reuters giving cover to those who stubbornly wish to cast doubt on the U.S. prosecution of the Rosenbergs. It also gives Reuters and U.S. detractors the opportunity once again smear America by raising their favorite Cold War boogie man, Joe McCarthy.
