Life piece by Guest:
Chris Clancy (7/8/11)
It was May 1st 1976 - I was at university. To kick the May Day festivities off the student union organized a three-legged pub crawl. A map was provided detailing ten pubs – the last being a student bar in one of the Halls of Residence.

God knows every life from beginning to end and takes everything in between into consideration. The Ratification Debate Part One
Constitution piece by Robert R. Owens

While it is not my usual routine to write articles in a series, in honor of our nation’s 235th birthday I want to take some time to examine the process that led to the ratification of the Constitution. Therefore, each of the next three weeks I will post one installment of a short reflection on the ratification debate.

Clearing the air
EPA piece by Guest:
Paul Driessen (6/26/11)
Trying to correct all the disinformation about “mercury and air toxics” is a full-time job - Ever since public, congressional and union anger and anxiety persuaded the Environmental Protection Agency to delay action on its economy-strangling carbon dioxide rules, EPA has been on a take-no-prisoners crusade to impose other job-killing rules for electricity generating plants.

Silliness About Who Has To Give Up Their Day Jobs
Elections piece by J.J. Jackson
(6/25/11)
Let’s think about something here. With the 2012 Presidential election already upon us, half way through 2011, several candidates have already declared their intention to run on the GOP side of the ticket. Prior to declaring however, many of them were forced to divest themselves of their day jobs because of silly rules put in place by Washington politicians and bureaucrats.

Federal Reserve Flunks Basic Economics
Federal Reserve piece by Offsite
(6/23/11)
Dr. Carl J. Arnold taught the money and banking class at Presbyterian College when I was a student there. I can still picture him in 1986: dark, crew-cut hair; pressed khaki pants; white, short-sleeved, buttoned-down shirt; dark, plastic-framed glasses; and a pocket protector. Ok, maybe he didn’t wear a pocket protector. In any event, he should have worn one if he didn’t.

Not Stealing Palestine but Purchasing Israel
Middle East piece by Daniel Pipes
(6/21/11)
Zionists stole Palestinian land: that’s the mantra both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas teach their children and propagate in their media. This claim has vast importance, as Palestinian Media Watch(1) explains: “Presenting the creation of the [Israeli] state as an act of theft and its continued existence as a historical injustice serves as the basis for the PA’s non-recognition of Israel’s right to exist.“ The accusation of theft also undermines Israel’s position internationally.

Things Gleaned From The CNN Republican Debate
Election 2012 piece by J.J. Jackson
(6/20/11)
As I sat Monday night, pen and paper in hand, marking my impressions of the responses given by the various GOP contenders for President as they were asked questions, I took some things away from the debate that I would like to share with you now.

Stan Musial Deserves a Better Biography
Sports piece by Aaron Goldstein
(6/19/11)
Although Stan Musial played his last baseball game nearly a decade before I was born, I have long been fond of him. Because when I think of Stan the Man, I think of my Dad who back in 1955 had a chance meeting with Musial and several other members of the St. Louis Cardinals at the Polo Grounds after a Sunday doubleheader between the Redbirds and the New York Giants had been called on a count of rain. My father got the opportunity to ask Musial about his unique batting stance on Bill Stern’s radio show. (1)
‘ Where’s the “Science Story of the Century”?‘
Global Cooling piece by Dennis T. Avery
(6/19/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - Is it the “Science Story of the Century” or the best kept American media secret of the year? Just-announced heavyweight new studies from the U.S. National Solar Observatory tell us to expect a long quiet period for the sun - and decades of cooler global temperatures.

‘A Burning Issue: More Huge Forest Fires?‘
GreeenIsm piece by Dennis T. Avery
(6/12/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - Our ironic thanks to Smoky the Bear’s campaign manager, the Sierra Club, and all those well-meaning folks who have just delivered the second-largest wildfire in Arizona history. The Wallow Fire has burned more than 600 square miles of Ponderosa pine forest at this writing - and it is still burning. It still has a chance at exceeding the 732 square miles of the Chediski fire in 2002.
The Strategic Debate We Need To Have
National Security piece by Jeff Lukens
(6/12/11)
The U.S. federal debt is our nation’s greatest strategic weakness. As the debt continues to grow, our military posture around the globe is threatened. Defense cuts are coming, and with that reduction must come a reduced mission. In this environment, what our nation’s strategic mission should be, and what the corresponding defense funding should be to meet that need, are open questions. They are questions that need to be openly explored by politicians and the American people alike.

Food Fascism Lays Groundwork For Additional Control
Fascism piece by Frederick Meekins
(6/11/11)
Wonder what the food fascists advocating dietary asceticism scarfed down as children. As anyone that has sat through an evangelistic missionary testimonial knows, those griping the loudest about your errant ways are usually the ones that could make a sailor blush before they came to religion.
Love Still Works
Society piece by Guest:
Maurice J. Reynolds (6/11/11)
Growing up in an environment of abuse most always inflicts and leaves lasting scars. These scars can run deep, causing an overwhelming amount of physical, emotional, and psychological problems. Even worse is when the abuse is so deeply embedded it produces harmful emotions like anger, hate, rage, and shame, that hinders positive growth and chokes the life out of meaningful relationships. Hurt and pain are ever present while bitterness and unforgiveness run in abundance.
You Don’t Have To Accept The Choices Your Masters Give You
Freedom piece by J.J. Jackson
(6/11/11)
An old parable goes as follows: A farmer from a small village was in debt to a notoriously crooked moneylender who just so happened to have a fond eye for his daughter. Of course she had no interest in him however. The moneylender pleaded with the farmer to convince his daughter to marry him, but the farmer refused.

Hollywood ‘Comedian’ Calls for Assassination of Sarah Palin
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston
(6/9/11)
Jeff Poor at the Daily Caller has a disturbing story(1) this week. It’s all about a so-called Hollywood comedian telling a talk show audience that he would assassinate Sarah Palin were she to become President of the United States. He wasn’t being “funny” either, was he? After all, those Hollywierders that blamed the right for a “culture of violent rhetoric” said this sort of talk was a “serious” threat to the country. Right?

Independents are not Moderates
Political Parties piece by Guest:
Sarah Lyons (6/8/11)
Pew Research Center released a survey(1) last month which was encouragingly called “Beyond Red vs. Blue.“ Encouraging, that is, for the growing number of Americans eager to find a way out of the partisanship which has come to dominate public policy making at nearly every level of government.
Presumed Guilty Until Proven Innocent…Even Then You’re Still Guilty
Law piece by Carey Roberts
(6/8/11)
This past Thursday men and women from around the country convened to share their experiences facing down false allegations of abuse. The event was a sobering testament to how the former War on Crime has morphed into Open Season on the Innocent, or so it would appear.
The Emptying of Yemen
Middle East piece by Daniel Pipes

Continue to Avoid the ‘Ring of Fire’ Countries
Money piece by David John Marotta
(6/7/11)
MAROTTA ON MONEY - Americans seem to be divided on the importance of raising the U.S. debt ceiling. Regardless of your personal politics, avoid investing in countries that cavalierly allow their debt and deficit to balloon.
The myth of killer mercury
EPA piece by Guest:
Willie Soon,Paul Driessen (6/7/11)
EPA: Environmental Propaganda Activists - New rules use doctored evidence to cause economic pain and impair human health. The Environmental Protection Agency recently issued 946 pages of new rules, requiring that U.S. power plants sharply reduce (already low) emissions of mercury and 83 other air pollutants. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson claims that, while the regulations will cost electricity producers $10.9 billion annually, they will save 17,000 lives and generate up to $140 billion in health benefits.

When Anti-Technology Kills
Food piece by Dennis T. Avery
(6/5/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - This week’s headlines: Another huge, awful outbreak of food-borne bacteria. This time the worst, so far, in modern history; perhaps 2000 sickened, and about 20 dead. At least 500 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome.. That means liver damage - and potential death from kidney failure. More than 1000 cases of severe diarrhea. Usually it is the very young and the elderly who are most at risk of serious consequences, but this outbreak targeted young adults, mostly women.
Texas makes losers pay for bringing frivolous lawsuits
Law piece by Offsite
(6/5/11)
It’s no wonder that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has recently been the focus of speculation about whether he might run for president in 2012. Texas has been on an economic roll since 2001, creating far more new jobs than any other state in the nation even as its population swelled to 25 million.
