Don’t surrender to high unemployment
   Socialism piece by Offsite (5/10/10)

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, just reported for April 2010 that 290,000 private sector new jobs were added (66,000 Census workers), and productivity increased 3.6 percent in the non-farm business sector during the first quarter of 2010. That’s the good news.

FCC ignores federal court, moves to regulate Internet
Big Brother piece by Offsite (5/10/10)

Despite being handed a defeat last month when a federal court ruled that the FCC does not have the power to enforce net neutrality, the regulatory agency is ignoring it.

Kagan thesis praised ‘socialism’s greatness’
Supreme Court piece by Offsite (5/10/10)

NEW YORK - In her undergraduate thesis at Princeton, President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, lamented the decline of socialism in the country as “sad” for those who still hope to “change America.“

The revolucionary is right
The Republic piece by Offsite (5/10/10)

“I want to start off by saying that the young man who spoke a little while ago was one of my students. And that made me so proud because I know that our people have strong leaders for years and years to come. … We know that all of that is happening in the context of where we now stand is stolen, occupied Mayheeco. And the message that we bring is we want to bring a little bit more of a revolutionary context to this. Why is it that these people, these frail, racist, white people, want to keep us out of this country? It’s not because simply of the color of our skin. It’s not simply because they just want to exploit us. Let me tell you why. Because on this planet right now are six billion people, at the forefront of the revolutionary movement is the Raza!“ – Ronald Gochez, Santee High School, 2007

Exposed! Communists boast ‘mentoring’ David Axelrod
   Socialism piece by Offsite (5/10/10)

Newly uncovered correspondence quotes a purported communist activist claiming he served as political mentor to President Obama’s Senior Adviser David Axelrod.

Sudden love for our military appreciated, but transparent
Military piece by Ari Kaufman (5/10/10)

Has anyone else noticed that during the past 16 months we’ve seen a major increase in overdue respect, honor and appreciation for our nation’s military heroes?

Totalitarian Collectivism - Part 8 - CORPORATIONS and LAW
Progressivism piece by Guest: SARTRE (5/10/10)

Much of the United States’ legal system is based upon Roman Law. The Latin phrase, corruptissima re publica plurimae leges translates as, “In the most corrupt state are the most laws.“ The failure of American Jurisprudence can be directly traced to the abandonment of Anglo Saxon Law and the heretical replacement of Natural Law by the dictates of Admiralty Law.

Government Funded Front Groups
Shadow Government piece by Robert R. Owens (5/10/10)

How many Progressive groups are in reality government supported entities masquerading as public interest lobbies?  How many government agencies act as Progressive lobbies?  Marx said “The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope.“ Is our hard-earned tax money being used to fulfill the words of the Progressive’s secular messiah?  Another old saying goes, “The acorn doesn’t fall too far from the tree.“  If the tree is the Progressive clique that’s captured America the acorn is the government money used by various Progressive fronts, both public and private to advocate for more money from the treasury to buy more power.  Or is that more rope?

Revisionist History And A. Lincoln
   History piece by J. D. Longstreet (5/10/10)

Every year, when spring rolls around, you can count on numerous articles in the mainstream media, and elsewhere, reviling the Confederacy, and so-called Neo-Confederates, the Confederate Battle flag, Proclamations of Confederate History Month, etc, etc, ... ad infinitum.

We All Know What Happens When You Assume
National Security piece by Jayme Evans (5/10/10)

Presidential Spokesgullet Robert Gibbs said last week that the near-miss in Times Square did not represent a “systemic failure”, but I would argue that the government’s response was indeed just that.  I would even go a step further. I would argue that the government’s failure to actually stop Shahzad’s attempt to detonate a Vehicle-Borne-IED in Times Square also exemplifies just how dangerous the entire Progressive approach to terrorism is. Let’s not forget, this incident did not occur in a vacuum.

Summoning Our Inner Hero
Progressivism piece by Jeff Lukens (5/10/10)

Rarely does the concern of the middle-class reach a point where they start protesting the government en masse. The passage of ObamaCare and the impending financial ruin of our country is now one of those times.

San Francisco’s Unconstitutional Boycott
The Republic piece by Bruce Walker (5/9/10)

San Francisco and other city governments have jumped on the bandwagon of formally “boycotting” business with Arizona in response to that border state’s new law to assist the enforcement of federal immigration laws.  Boycotts are an honorable way to influence governments or citizens.  When the Nazis came to power, millions of Americans boycotted German imports.  Blacks in Alabama boycotted the Montgomery Bus System for its discriminatory practices toward blacks in five decades ago.  American patriots boycotted British goods prior to the Revolutionary War.  Conservatives prior to our toppling Saddam Hussein called for boycotts of French goods.

Secretary Napolitano Lost Credibility, Say Critics
National Security piece by Jim Kouri (5/9/10)

“If Secretary Napolitano were a conservative Republican, the news media would have lambasted her daily and editorial writers would have demanded her resignation. They would have whipped up the public to demand her removal if she were a member of the GOP.“ - Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is faulted for states such as Arizona taking matters into their own hands. Her alleged lax attitude towards illegal aliens and her opposition to tough law enforcement contributed to Arizona passing its own illegal immigration law.

AFSCME No Questions For They Will Just Tell You Lies
Unions piece by J.J. Jackson (5/9/10)

“Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is ‘Never get involved in a land war in Asia,‘ but only slightly less well known is this: ‘Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!‘“ - Vizzini (The Princess Bride)—There is another classic blunder that should be added to the list.  And I am sure that Vizzini would have added it had he not, just seconds after uttering these words, fallen over dead from unwittingly poisoning himself.  I am referring to of course the classic blunder of believing anything a government union tells you.  AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, provides us a stark lesson as to why this is true.

Lessons from the Gulf blowout
Energy piece by Guest: Paul Driessen (5/9/10)

Learning (the right lessons, hopefully) from the Gulf of Mexico disaster - Transocean’s semi-submersible drilling vessel Deepwater Horizon was finishing work on a wellbore that had found oil 18,000 feet beneath the seafloor, in mile-deep water fifty miles off the Louisiana coast. Supervisors in the control cabin overlooking the drilling operations area were directing routine procedures to cement, plug and seal the borehole, replace heavy drilling fluids with seawater and extract the drill stem and bit through the riser (outer containment pipe) that connected the vessel to the blowout preventer (BOP) on the seafloor.

Volvo accidentally smashes new car in safety demo
   Science piece by Offsite (5/9/10)

At a demonstration of Volvo’s new collision warning system in Sweden this week, Wired got first-hand experience of what happens when it goes badly wrong—and we’ve got the video below to prove it.

Obamacare will Create Doctor Shortages
ObamaCare piece by Kevin Price (5/9/10)

Surveys among medical doctors during the health care debate showed that one out of three physicians intended to leave the profession of Obamacare became law. With the law on the books, many in the medical profession are not going to wait for states to sue or courts to over turn, but are going to simply find something else to do.

Up Close and Personal
Big Brother piece by Guest: Michael R. Shannon (5/9/10)

In the old terminal ‘A’ at Washington’s National Airport the Underwear Police (TSA) installed the latest, greatest detecting machinery a few years ago. This Sherlock Holmes of the snooping was the “puffer.“ (I’m assuming it was installed in DC instead of LA because out there people would have assumed a “puffer” was either blowing marijuana or spray paint fumes in your face.)

Hollywood Gets It Right, Again
   Entertainment piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), our favorite cunning industrialist, is back in top form in Iron Man 2. Just when we think our government can’t lean farther to the Left, Hollywood shows us at least they still know how to get it right on occasion. Now more than ever, the pro-free market, anti-government control concepts in Iron Man 2 are important in our contemporary culture.

Obama’s Big Government Problem
   ObamaNation piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

Listening to an Obama speech is like chowing down on a box of assorted chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get. The president’s commencement speech at the University of Michigan last Saturday was a classic case in point.

Fight Agenda 21 or Lose Your Freedom
Progressivism piece by Tom DeWeese (5/8/10)

Randall O’Toole Misses the Fine Print - At a recent property rights conference in Bozeman, Montana, anti-Smart Growth spokesman Randall O’Toole was taking part in a panel discussion when he was asked a question concerning my opposition to Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. Said the questioner, “DeWeese calls the sustainability doctrine ‘a complete agenda of control,‘ that has been largely embraced by most aspects of the government.“ O’Toole was asked to comment on that.

Obama and the Media is Why Palin is so Successful
Politics piece by Warner Todd Huston (5/8/10)

Americans love to be led by what they feel are ordinary folks. They want to assume that their sons or daughters could become a representative, senator, or even a president. It’s a can-do nation filled with folks that feel they are just as good as the next citizen in line. This is why Sarah Palin is so successful.

Liberal Incoherence
Progressivism piece by Guest: Mark Andrew Dwyer (5/8/10)

I thought I was hallucinating. California’s local governments of left-leaning Liberal denomination are considering commercial boycott of Arizona for its alleged violation of presumed federal monopoly on immigration enforcement. But I wasn’t hallucinating. They, apparently, are really going to do so.

Ally (GMAC) Bank’s Bailout Deceptions
Shadow Government piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

General Motors’ false advertising that it has paid back its bailout money “in full” has prompted harsh criticism.

Terrorists Shift to Sniper-Like Attacks on U.S.
   Terrorism piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

As investigators try to determine whether Faisal Shahzad’s attempted Times Square bombing was tied to the Pakistani Taliban, officials are sounding a larger alarm. If it’s true, the attack shows a terrorist group that has shifted its regional focus in South Asia toward American targets.

Feds move to cut off talk radio’s backup plan
Big Brother piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

Since the 2008 election, radio show hosts and fans have wondered how an Obama-run Federal Communications Commission (FCC) would treat conservative talk radio. Would they pressure Congress to bring back the Fairness Doctrine and effectively silence voices critical of the administration?

The next Arizona earthquake
Illegal Aliens piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

If opponents of the new Arizona law on illegal immigration think it is radical to actually enforce federal immigration laws, they are surely going to get ulcers over Arizona’s next innovation.

Flag wars! Teen gets 3-day Cinco de Mayo suspension
   Progressivism piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

A high school sophomore in Texas says he has received a three-day suspension for taking down a Mexican flag that was hung in his school higher than the Stars and Stripes.

Obama working to keep Fed’s secrets
Shadow Government piece by Offsite (5/8/10)

Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul says an amendment in the U.S. Senate is endangering a plan supported overwhelmingly in the U.S. House that calls for an audit of the Federal Reserve, the private organization that sets interest rates and money policy affecting everyone in the United States.

Silver Lining of Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
Energy piece by Kevin Roeten (5/8/10)

In one of the worst oil spill disasters of the century, you can always count on the creme rising to the top. True, 11 riggers lost their life when the BP Deepwater Horizon blew up and caught fire. President Obama is under the impression that no more oil drilling can be done offshore for fear of an environmental catastrophe. Why does he ignore what becomes crystal clear from the accident? The fact that crude is seeping through the ocean floor, and is especially pronounced in the Gulf, indicates it’s in the Gulf in vast quantities.
