Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

‘I love money, how about you?‘
Capitalism piece by Leon A. Weinstein

I always thought that to have a lot of money is good. When I was a child growing up in the Soviet Union we were told that having a lot of money is not necessary, even stupid. We were told that one person can’t wear two dresses at the same time. We were told that even the most super rich can’t set on two chairs at the same time. It all didn’t hold water for me. I always suspected and now know for sure that there is a huge difference between having money and not having it. Otherwise why would most people on the planet prefer to be rich. They do not care what color the money is, whose portrait is on it or what language is used to say “money”. That means that people like money not for the beauty. They love money for the might.

When you have money you can travel. You can buy beautiful things, You live in wonderful places and enjoy great views. You can sit in the first rows at sport arenas or theaters,  you can give great and unusual presents to the people you love, you can donate and build and you can venture into projects and adventures. Yes, you can. Money will not buy you happiness, but will buy you services of the great doctors, attention of many people, admiration and even unconditional love of some. Yes, money can buy love but not in the way romantics dream and yearn about. When you have a lot of money, a lot of attention, and a lot of great things surrounding you, it’s all attracting love like a magnet. Real and lasting love.

You might tell me about many examples of super rich feeling miserable and depressed, about broken marriages and suicidal attempts. Go and ask one of those rich and miserable to give you all of their money. See what you will be told. Despite what some people who usually have no money tell you, it is good to be rich. Better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick. Much better.

Now, to answer cries of fault from my outraged opponents, most of my friends do not have money to buy good cars or travel first class, but I wouldn’t exchange them for anything in the world. Their brain cells and sense of humor work perfectly and are totally satisfactory for me. We have laughs; we shared great moments, cried together and together confronted tragedies in our lives. But it has nothing to do with having or not having money. What I am saying is that having money is better than not having it, and that having money is good, and the more money the better.

In today’s America if you say that you love money you are perceived like an enigma. To say that you love money is on the verge of poor manners. It is like admitting that you stole from orphans and spent everything on booze and horses. In the Soviet Union everybody was saying that they loved communism, but actually most of the people hated it. It was normal to say one thing and think totally differently. I hoped that here in the land of the free and the home of brave the people would say what they think and think what they say.

Not so fast. The brave are not so brave any more. The brave are now politically correct. I however do not want anymore double-talk and double-think. I am not going this direction no matter what. This is why I decided to speak out and speak my mind. Here it is: It is good to be rich! And I wish you all to be rich, healthy and happy!...However if you prefer the opposite, then I wish you to be poor, sick and miserable.
