Cross the Bridge by Pastor David McGee
Culture Wars piece by Guest: Nathan Tabor

Too many Christians have separated their Spiritual beliefs from their Political beliefs. For instance, we can find Pro-Life Christians and Pro-Choice Christians. What do you have to say about Christians who dismisses do not stand on the Truth of God’s Word in Politics.

Too often, members of the Body of Christ, His Church, are more interested in obtaining “hell insurance” than they are in living a powerful and spiritual life full of the Holy Spirit and open to living a life of blessings and adventure.

The sadness of living a life with the sole purpose of escaping God’s punishment while walking the line separating a joyful journey of spiritual discovery from a journey filled with fear and spiritual bankruptsy should bring millions of Christians to their knees in repentant prayer.

In his new book—Cross the Bridge to Life: Discover Your Adventure—Pastor David McGee offers his readers a Bible-based battle plan for living a spiritually victorious life in a world that’s absorbed with carnal pursuits and the accumulation of wealth, power and status. According to McGee, God is not merely concerned with providing “fire insurance” for his childrens’ afterlife. He wants to provide them with a reason to live, a way to live, and the power to live. The Father wants to help his children not just to exist but to live an extremely blessed and incredibly adventurous life.

As the reader journeys through McGee’s book, he or she “is advised to get ready to be challenged, refreshed, inspired, and equipped to start enjoying the blessed life God destined for you.“
David McGee, who pastors a church in Kernersville, North Carolina, uses his own life and life experiences to introduce the Savior Jesus Christ to non-believers, or to demonstrate the power of living in the spirit to believers who’ve, for one reason or another, allowed their spiritual life to take a backseat to worldly endeavors and carnal pleasure.

McGee takes the reader through a life filled with suffering, disappointments and danger. For example, Pastor McGee describes his first spiritual battle when he was born two months premature with his tongue attached in his front gums.

Even at ten years old, McGee regularly using drugs and finding myself in trouble with the authorities. By fifteen he says he was a mess. “I had a serious drug problem and no real direction in my life. Finally realizing that they couldn’t help me, my parents sent me to a series of professionals. After many frustrating sessions, one doctor looked at me and said, “There’s no hope for you. The best thing that could happen to you is for someone to find you lying in a ditch – dead… at least it would be over.”

But God was not through with McGee yet. With the help of his grandmother, the 17-year old McGee entered a Bible-based drug rehabilitation program. It was there that the young McGee

Resigned in my despair, I proceeded to try quenching my pain with more drug use, which led to more frequent arrests. I was a lost and aimless teenager with no hope. In the bleak landscape of my life, there was one person who hadn’t given up on me. My grandmother knew I wasn’t beyond the reach of God’s hand. And I could see something different in her eyes; it was the love of Christ. Soon I would experience that love. At the age of 17, I hesitantly entered a local Bible-based recovery program for drug-addicted teens. It was during his days of recovery from his addiction that David McGee accepted the salvation offered by Jesus Christ.

From that time on, David McGee’s story became the story of a Christian pastor, musician and teacher. In addition to exploding media attention and increasing DVD and CD sales, David has expanded his ministry team. He has released his first book, Cross the Bridge to Life, David has begun to speak at large-scale events, including an outreach in South Miami Beach during spring break.

Within the pages of McGee’s book, you will experience meaning, purpose, destiny and calling in life.  David McGee gives powerful personal insight into God’s Word and His life-changing Truths to guide you in leading a God-filled life.  This is not a self-help book, but rather a God-help book.  Experience the love of the One that created you and Who desires that you live a more fruitful and joyful adventure. Discover the God-given joy of being alive as David equips you with simple, easy to follow steps to live life at its fullest.

David lived as a professional rock musician, a remodeling company owner, a recording studio owner, and a traveling Christian teacher/musician. Now he is the senior pastor of a growing fellowship. His story is certainly a unique and exciting one.

In 2002, David moved his home Bible study into the public sphere. That once-small fellowship of fifteen people has grown to over two thousand in weekly attendance. He has since launched a satellite church and plans to launch several more. David’s teachings are broadcast around the world on TV, radio, and the Internet in an ever-increasing market. David has appeared on numerous television and radio shows, making appearances on ABC, CBS, CBN, FOX, NBC, and TBN.

One of the things that make this ministry so unique is David’s love for God, for people, and for the Bible. In a time when biblical literacy has fallen to an all-time low, David makes the Bible fun, exciting, and personally meaningful. With his rock-star image, he is seen as cutting edge and culturally relevant, yet biblically solid.

He has a deep respect for the Jewish roots of Christianity, demonstrated by his leading numerous and extensive trips to Israel, leading Passovers, and use of the Hebrew language to tie the Old Testament and the New Testament together in a powerful and unique way.
