‘Will The GOP Snatch Defeat Right From The Jaws Of Victory?‘

Harlingen, Texas, September 6, 2010:  We are now less than two months away from an election many feel will be the most important we will see in our lifetime.  For the Republicans, it poses the greatest opportunity they have been able to embrace in decades.  They will be able to show the American people the true face of the conservative agenda.  It is also an important election for the Democrats, because it gives them an opportunity to separate themselves from the far-left policies that have been rejected by the American people.

For many Democrats the writing of defeat is already scrawled across the political landscape and they will pay a heavy price for blindly following a socialist oriented leadership.  What they can salvage from this year is a clear understanding that this is a center-right nation and soundly rebels when politicians attempt to move it off its traditional foundation.  If they can actually understand this is a fact, and store it in their memory banks, their future could turn bright again.

For Republicans to prosper, they must first realize many of us will be holding our noses when we vote for them.  The vast majority of Americans would like to see the entire Washington establishment out on the street with tin cups and pencils in their hands.  Most of us were Republicans who were abandoned by our Party.  Now as conservative independents we will be voting for the best candidates we can find, even if they do not carry the party label.  In those cases where Republicans and Democrats are the only selections on the ballot, we will fight our way through the stink and vote for the least offensive on the shopping list.

Even if this results in a GOP victory, we will make sure it is really a “conservative” victory.  So, those candidates who make promises knowing they will never be kept…beware, people are on to that old game and it will never fly again.  At this moment in time the voters of the United States really expect candidates to lie right in their faces, promise anything and everything…and then forget all they have pledged on November 3rd.

So, GOP get your heads on straight and only promise us those things you are willing to fight for every day you are in office.  Don’t promise us to end earmarks and then load up legislation with pork.  Don’t promise to cut your personal spending and then run your credit cards into the red.  Don’t promise us you are for everyman, then make another sweetheart deal for some big corporation.  Don’t tell us you are Pro-Life and quietly back legislation that attacks human birth. Don’t wave the flag and tell us you are Pro-American and the support questionable foreign policy we can all see as a determent to future prosperity.  Don’t pledge to support civil liberties and then pass more bills that restrict freedom.  Don’t tell the world you are for term limits and then forget how to even spell the words once votes have been counted.  Above everything else, don’t promise us you will control national spending and balance the budget, then raid the piggy bank.

In the past, all of these things were promised voters while on the GOP campaign trail.  Now, because they made so many false promises, they have spent years languishing in political never-never land, eating scraps out of the Donkey feeding trough.  If they can remember these pledges that once gave them victory and act accordingly, America will reward them.  If they don’t…
