Top Ten most Left-Biased American Journalists - No. 1: Helen Thomas, UPI/Independent
TheFringeMedia piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/25/10)

We have finally reached the number one, most left-biased journalist in America today on our top ten count down and our most biased journo pick probably won’t surprise any of you. Even though she just “retired” due to her outrageous bias and hatred for Israel, we just have to give the number one most biased slot to the ever-vitriolic Ms. Helen Thomas, long time employee of United Press International (UPI) and later an independent Washington journalist.

A new study in laziness
   EdukShun piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

In closing the celebration of Harvard’s 300th anniversary in 1936, former Harvard President Abbott Lawrence Lowell observed, “Institutions have rarely been killed while they were alive. They commit suicide, or die from lack of vigor, and the adversary comes and buries them.“ Lowell thought Harvard would survive.

Bloated intelligence
National Security piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

President Obama’s nominee to be director of national intelligence, retired Air Force Lt. Gen James R. Clapper Jr., airily dismissed The Washington Post’s detailed and revealing account of problems besetting the intelligence community at a Senate hearing on his nomination. For the nation’s sake we hope he’s a fast learner and knows how to change his mind, because the agencies he’s supposed to supervise, without real authority over them, seem crippled.

The looming tax trap
   Progressivism piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

Another $2.6 trillion to feed the bureaucracy’s habit - If pumping money into people’s pockets stimulates the economy, vacuuming money from their pockets should depress the economy. Given how sad today’s economy is, depressing it even further may make it leap out a window.

Wanted: Grown-up governance
Bird-Brain Flu piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

At some point, the grown-ups are going to have to take over. We’re being gov- erned by a gang of perpetual adolescents from the most liberal enclaves in America.

Emergence of unintended consequences
   ObamaCare piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

Sold as affordable, health reform is already hurting consumers - Josh Dent is an early victim of Obamacare. The lanky, shaven-headed machine operator likes the medical insurance plan his employer, Acorn Signs, provides him. But under the newly enacted Affordable Care Act, his insurance policy will get less affordable. A provision in the law is putting his insurance company out of business, and whatever replaces Mr. Dent’s current policy will likely be much more expensive.

Woman 2, thugs 0 after home invasion
   Guns/Self-defense piece by Offsite (7/25/10)

Oklahoma break-in turns deadly when ‘victim’ pulls gun and fires - One gun isn’t enough.

The Nation Killer
Economics piece by Alan Caruba (7/25/10)

The unemployment rate keeps climbing and the polling results for the President and Congress keep falling. Conservatives are well aware that the Obama administration has relentlessly pursued legislation harmful to the economy, but just how bad it is and how bad it will become in 2011 may not have sunk in fully for the public in general.

Lindsey Graham: Portrait Of A Principled Idiot
Elitists piece by J.J. Jackson (7/24/10)

I really did not want to write a second article in a one month about Senator Lindsey Graham considering he is from South Carolina and I am from Pennsylvania.  But I must.  He is forcing my hand.

Some Thoughts on Investing in America
Economics piece by Thomas D. Segel (7/24/10)

Harlingen, Texas, July 23, 2010:  As citizens we are constantly forced to listen as politicians preach to us about how their taxation, bailout legislation and government takeover of industry is really “investing” in America.  At the same time, they are doing less than nothing to see more than 14 million people are returned to an active work force.

Freedom From Tyranny Is Our Goal
Government piece by Robert R. Owens (7/24/10)

When taxes become destructive they surpass the consent of the governed bending to the will of tyranny.  When regulations strangle competition instead of securing it from evil combinations they become counterproductive and defeat the very purpose for which they were proposed.  When foreign entanglements bleed the nation but do not secure the peace or defeat the enemy they become interventionist vehicles for vested interests.  When spending becomes a hemorrhaging of assists leading to national bankruptcy those who continue to pile debt upon debt seek not the good of the nation but instead its destruction.  When leaders selected to unite instead do all they can to divide they no longer advance the interest of the whole and are instead partisan leaders in a factional fight.

Mrs. Madoff exonerates Michael Mann
ClimateGate piece by Guest: Paul Driessen (7/24/10)

Yet another investigation makes Tom Sawyer proud - and promotes alarmist climate legislation - Pennsylvania State University recently released a report summarizing its final “investigation” into whether one of its employees had committed scientific misconduct. The report exonerated Dr. Michael Mann of all charges, although he did receive a tap on the wrist - for sharing unpublished manuscripts with third parties without first getting the authors’ permission!

Top Ten most Left-Biased American Journalists - No. 2: Joe Klein, ‘Time Magazine’
TheFringeMedia piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/24/10)

Second place looms large and it is quite an honorable—or maybe onerous—award on our top ten most left-biased working American journalists list. Amusingly our number two guy even graduated from a school that foretold his future work. From the bowels of New York’s exclusive Hackley School comes our number two most left-biased journo, ‘Time Magazine’s’ Joe Klein.

‘Why are we discussing racism?‘
   Racism piece by Offsite (7/24/10)

Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?

The right to nothing
Welfare State piece by Offsite (7/24/10)

Recently, I heard conservative radio talk-show host Michael Medved interviewing, with considerable patience, the director of a national advocacy organization that benefits the homeless (I’ll call him John). John was full of righteousness about the necessity of supporting his organization via Your Tax Dollars because his work was so important.

Soldier overseas? No voting for you
   Elections piece by Offsite (7/24/10)

In the wake of the Department of Justice’s New Black Panther Party scandal, a second former DOJ attorney has now come forward, blasting the department for failing to protect American soldiers’ right to vote.

Rep. Rangel charged with Ethics Violations
House piece by Jim Kouri (7/24/10)

After dragging its feet for almost two years, a House investigative committee yesterday charged New York Congressman Charles B. Rangel with multiple ethics violations. Rep. Rangel had already been removed as the House Ways and Means Committee chairman.

AEI: More Unions Means Fewer Jobs
Unions piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/24/10)

In April Lee Ohanian of the American Enterprise Institute published a paper(1) on the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) that is a must read. But this month he published a shorter piece(2) that is just as interesting. In it, Ohanian claims that if we increased unionism as the Obamaites want to do, we’d actually lose jobs; 4.5 million of them to be precise.

Americanus Speaks to Arizona’s Immigration Crisis and to All of Us
General piece by Steve Farrell (7/23/10)

As the illegal immigration crisis proceeds a pace, and an American President has so far removed himself from his duty (and his wits) that he has ordered his Justice Department to sue an American state (Arizona) for doing its duty and for having its wits about it in defense of its citizens and their property - a little wit and wisdom from Benjamin Franklin might be useful. At least we can hope so.

Hello, I’m a Racist, Pleased to Meet You
Racism piece by Selwyn Duke (7/23/10)

There is such a thing as a conditioned response.  Here’s an example: Leftists call conservatives “racists.“  Conservatives cower and stutter some defense.  Leftists call conservatives “racists” some more.  Conservatives cower some more.  Question: How do you think you break this pattern?

Obama’s Laws Will Punish Businesses, Taxpayers
   Progressivism piece by Offsite (7/23/10)

Lately, even the most elite in media have started to report some of the intended and unintended consequences of the rushed and ill-conceived federal healthcare bill passed earlier this year by the Barack Obama administration and the Democrat-controlled Congress.

October Surprises Could Buoy Democrats in Elections
Election 2010 piece by Offsite (7/23/10)

The latest Gallup Poll shows that only 11 percent of Americans have solid confidence in the Democratic-dominated Congress, now the least trusted of all major public institutions.

It’s a Fiscal Problem, Not a Fed Problem
   Economics piece by Offsite (7/23/10)

Ben Bernanke threw a curveball in his midterm report to Congress this week. The Fed view of the economy has been downgraded since it last reported in February. Although the official Fed forecast for 2010-11 is still 3 percent to 4 percent real growth, Bernanke sounded particularly gloomy when he characterized the economy as “unusually uncertain.“ And he indicated that the majority view of the Fed Board of Governors and Reserve Bank presidents is that the risks to growth are “weighted to the downside.“

Sen. John Kerry skips town on sails tax
   Demercrats piece by Offsite (7/23/10)

Sen. John Kerry, who has repeatedly voted to raise taxes while in Congress, dodged a whopping six-figure state tax bill on his new multimillion-dollar yacht by mooring her in Newport, R.I.

Obama’s Illegal Alien Financial Bonanza
Socialism piece by Jim Kouri (7/23/10)

Last week, the US Senate approved the most far-reaching expansion of Wall Street regulations and the financial industry since the Great Depression. Part of that expansion of government power is President Barack Obama naming three nominees to the board of the Federal Reserve Bank as it prepares to handle its vastly expanded duties “to ensure financial stability and oversee financial institutions.“

Top Ten most Left-Biased American Journalists - No. 3: Paul Krugman, The New York Times
TheFringeMedia piece by Warner Todd Huston (7/23/10)

Number three on our list almost violates the criteria that I set up in the first piece I wrote for this series. I said then that denizens of the Old Media that are too much a “cartoon of journalism” would not be included on my list. Yet despite my dismissal of such Old Media clowns, in the number four slot on the list you’ll find Paul Krugman of ‘The New York Times’.

America and the Doctrine of the Last Chance
The Republic piece by Rev Bresciani (7/23/10)

The History Channel cooks up a nice pot of Nostradamus and eschatological soup with their multi episodic “The Nostradamus Effect.“  As usual their best is salted with doubt, dissing and secularist expertise that would be better used in a college course entitled “Unbelief 101.“

Yes, Mr. Obama, Words Do Matter
Progressivism piece by Guest: Frank Salvato (7/23/10)

During the run up to the 2008 Presidential Election, then-candidate Barack Obama made it very clear that “words matter.“ In fact, he thought so much of this notion that he plagiarized from a speech made by one of his friends, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. During a stop in Wisconsin to chat with some of the Democrat Party and Progressive movement faithful, Mr. Obama pilfered Mr. Patrick’s words every so eloquently as he tried to convince potential supporters that he was a candidate that said what he meant and meant what he said. Truth be told, candidate Obama has turned out to be nothing more than a Progressive operative born of the Chicago and a devout Alinskyite.

It’s CYA Time!
Big Brother piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (7/22/10)

Register as a Democrat or reap the wrath of the Obama Regime.

Gabelli Likes GM’s Move to Buy AmeriCredit
   Economics piece by Offsite (7/22/10)

General Motors’ purchase of AmeriCredit Corp. makes the automaker, 61 percent-owned by taxpayers, a better competitor, says star money manager Mario Gabelli.
